This morning I received an email from Depositphotos. I had around 1k vectors from my portfolio that were in the Unfinished section for a while as I didn't have time to choose categories for them.

This is a first for me, having an agency offering an helping hand, anyone else had similar situation or I was just the lucky pick of the day?

You can love or hate them, but I can certainly appreciate a helping hand! :)

They helped me to get my port up there when I first joined.  Excellent service.

Agreed.  Very nice offer of help.  They must be quite impressed with your port and eager to get more of it online :)

Yes, they do that - I uploaded some 3.000 photos to them in one go and didn't have to categorize or disambiguate them  ;) They also were pretty quick about it, too.

What contrast to other agencies where you have to upload single files and  nurse them through the gateway.

I had a similar email from them a few months ago when I had hundreds if images waiting in the unfinished section..

Nice email but I decided to process them myself in the end.. I prefer top have full control over my images if I can + uploading to DP is really easy if you have time..

They also put in categories for me when I uploaded my initial batch.  Greatly appricated.

Nice to see this, I love when something positive like this happens in this business, changes from the constant criticism (which is not bad in itself).

I was quite surprised at this offer. I like uploading to them, but they are not the main one I will process first since I have Categories to choose. It's not long for a few hundreds of image, but with large batch it is very time consuming, and I give priority to Shutterstock or Canstock which are more worth it and somewhat less time consuming.

I am very happy with this effort and their help, it encourage me to upload my full portfolio there.

It's nice of them. Especially compared to agency that makes me to re-upload image if I forget to choose one of illustrations categories...

Be careful....they have made quite a few mistakes key wording videos for me which I have had to go back and fix.

Interesting service to offer, and for free.
I'd be extremely wary of letting anyone else keyword for me. I don't even like some of the keywords that have apparently been added to some of my iS files as they migrate over to Getty.
If they do a good job, that's miraculous and worth lauding.

The OP only said categories, not keywords.

The images are already keyworded, not sure if anyone every got the images keyworded. In my case still have to choose categories for 1300 pending image still is time saver (or money saver in the case you pay someone to do it). They have yet to process my file but since I took up their offer I will wait and see :)

Now, if they could do more nice things like increase commissions and remain active in the forums, listen to contributor ideas, respond to contributor ideas, etc.... They could be the next big agency.

I also received similar offer from DP today.
They offered me that they want to assist me with my unfinished files.

Really nice from them, but I politely refused because I want to have full control about texts I have in titles, descriptions, keywords of my images and videos. Same goes for categories.

But interesting that they offer such service for free!

You mean like the one that does that if you have one improper keyword?  >:(  When the keyword is a subject in the photo!

Deposit photos seems to be trying very hard to make their site friendly and it seems that they have watched what's wrong with others, for contributors, and try to make it a better experience. I don't know about sales, prices or buyers, but their software and site appear to work, which is also kind of different?

Does support actually answer questions? That would make them unique.  :)

I am doing fairly well there in terms of number of downloads per month, yet I still have mixed feeling about DP. With the lowest RPD of all the sites that I contribute to I am concerned about the fact that they apparently are gaining market share by undercutting the competition with some of the lowest prices in the industry.

Despite paying us a higher royalty percentage than many other agencies their low prices can only encourage others to do the same, thus devaluating our photography even further. They have just done the same with video. But then since everyone is singing their praises I am probably missing something here?

DP Have videos? Never saw this?

I am not sure anyone feels like DP is at the top of it's game or that it cannot be improved. We were only mentioning that to my knowledge they are the only agency I saw offering you help in processing your images, which is a nice thought from them (true some agencies don't even ask you to choose categories but...).

Of course the RPI is on the low end and they still have  a lot of room from improvement :).
