Dissolve lowering price on my footage

(1/7) > >>

StockStudio:
Just got a mail from Dissolve-  that since my clips are solf for $49 on other sites (they obviously point to VB)
they are adjusting the prices on my HD versions to match the same price.

I wrote to them that the $49 price reflects a price for subscribers who pay a monthly fee.
Without that fee the price is the same ($79)

am i missing something or are they wrong??

noodle:
No you are right
But if they lower the clips to $49 whats your cut?
VB gives you the $49

Video-StockOrg:
We've had same situation with Dissolve and we ranted about it on our page too. After this we got email from them with "Dissolve’s pricing model allows us to reasonably compete, helping to ensure we don’t lose customers to lower-priced competition. It also reinforces our commitment to our customers, making sure they are offered fair, competitive pricing."

also we ranted that sales are crap and they replied; "Please be assured that we are active in marketing and selling Dissolve content, regardless its price point."

We seriously expect in following months sales pick up at Dissolve if they already force us to not dump our prices with VB or lower pricing tiers at Pond5.

BUT, yet again we understand their forced higher pricing... it's our duty to not let agencies devalue our work.

What's more important - the price that the customer pays, or the price that the artist receives?

Dissolve is a third-rate agency with low sales that pays contributors a lower percentage than the leading video agencies. The bottom line is if they reduce your prices and you keep selling there, you only hurt yourself. Get them to delete your portfolio & cut your losses.

Exactly.  I closed my account there.  They were in here (MSG) all gung-ho trying to promote their business to get more content.  Once they got enough content, their attitude towards contributors flip flopped.  And their arrogance blossomed like flowers on a wet, warm spring day.
