Today I find my second image reaching downloads of five. This , if I am not mistaken, means it goes up one level.
What does this mean ? Any advantage to this?

Do any of you find that it helps to get a higher color rating , level increase?
Like to know your opinion on this, and how to take advantage of the ratings?
What does it mean to you?

Cheers.

P.S.
If you have a Dreamstime account, I made a blog on the same subject. You can answer there or here , wherever you prefer.

I am sure you will see more money as your commission next time that image sold...
Also, I believe that your image is having a slight advantage now than it had before level-up...

Congrats!

As has been stated above, as the image attains higher levels, you will receive a higher royalty according to the following chart:

But there are many people that feel that as an image attains a higher level, it is more susceptible to be downloaded as a subscription (and thus you will receive a lower royalty).

Looking at my latest subs sales, indeed there are many level 2 or 3, but they have been selling well as credits too.  I have a level 4 image that sold for 7 credits at XS - it's not a unique image, and you will find many other similar ones if you search for the same keywords the buyer used.  Checking my level 3 images, some have been selling a lot as subs, other not once.

Probably sometimes people choose the cheaper of two similar images, but I don't think they will buy an image that is not what tehy really want only because it's more expensive.

I agree however that the whole pricing structure for credits in DT makes it tempting for a frequent buyer to get a subscription.  We've been seeing increase for credits in the past year or so, with no increase in subscription prices.

Likewise, subscription sales count towards image level increase (I don't think any other agency gives this), so when it is sold as PPD your royalty is quite nice. I have a simple image of a tomato isolated on white which has reached level 5, the last time this image sold was medium PPD which earned me $4.33. The average royalty paid to me for this image for the last 10 downloads is $2.31 and the rate of PPD & subscription sales was about 50/50.

In June, I've received for a level 3 image... $3.69 for a small and 4.38 for a med.

as well as $4.50 for a medium level 4, so I'm pretty happy with that. Makes up for those subscription sales.
