Hi Guys,
I have a question for you. I opened a DT account back in 2005 and uploaded 52 images. Then I never touched it again except to collect a payout every couple of years. I made $500 US off those images. They are poor quality from when I was first starting photography and are from a 3.1 MP point and shoot. Now my photos are better... thank God. My question is this: I'm ready to start uploading a totally new portfolio of images. Should I close the old account and start a new one. Or just upload to that same account. I'm wondering about photo rankings and how they would appear in the searches considering that I haven't uploaded a photo in 10 years and I assume my stats suck. Here they are if it helps:
ACCOUNT STATISTICS
Uploaded files:52
Total sales:558
Portfolio exposure:0.02%
Database exposure:0%
Downloads per image:10.73
Message boards: 2
Monthly uploads:0.42 average
Acceptance ratio:40.1%
Thanks for any guidance.
All the best,
Yaj

hi, upload to old account, it is not important, every image is new story.

I would upload to the existing account and deactivate the old images > if they are not selling anymore. 2005 account may be something prestigious.

A 2004 account never earned me any brownie points. :o

Because it's not a 2005 account ;)

I also had a 2006 account with 7 images. Sold for about 24$ in 9 years.
Then I uploaded some 300 images more but the result isn't what I expected, another 25$ in one year.
While I do think that not uploading for 8-9 years has something to do with that, I also think DT isn't where it used to be.
Best of luck!

Acceptance ratio IS a factor. If you had 52 files and 176 rejections, I would consider a new account. I don't know what you are looking for, likely at least 85% approval (you can find in your stats). DT penalizes lower approval ratings.
