Title: Are comments on images private

Are comments on images at dreamstime always private?  I have been there for so long and I feel I should know the answer, and think that they are perhaps private..... but i never really checked to find out.

This area allows you to see which files have been commented by other users.
Very important: please note that the comments area will act as a public forum, so that once a reply is sent to other members, they will be able to see the entire discussion and all comments regarding that specific image, including all messages from other users. This feature also helps admin to provide better assistance.

I went right to the image ID 6584068 while logged in. It is the woods image, yes? Cannot see comments in any of the tabs. I think it may be that you can only see comments if you have participated in the dialogue for that particular image.

When using the link provided, went to DT main page as noted in the reply above.

ah yeah... ok.  But if you commented on that photo, you would see the 'discussion' for that photo... I think.

Yes that's right.  Once you comment a photo you will be able to see all the comments that the photo has ever had.

Well, I commented on your picture but can't find my text nor any other comment on that pic.
I dit get some comments on a comment I made on another picture though, perhaps once you comment you get all subsequent comments on that picture?

yeah, there doesn't really seem to be a place to look at your own comments - unless the other person replied back.

Ok, after some testing with Opla, I think this is how it works, unless i am missing something, which i very well could be.  And now that i have found the answer it is not surprising I was confused.

Comments are private UNLESS you reply back to the comment, then the commenter can view all the comments on that photo.

Did you get that?
So if i comment on your photo, I still can't see the comments on the photo, not even the one I posted.  That is only true however, until you REPLY to my comment.. then I can see both my comment, your comment and anyone else who has commented on that photo.

Thanks Leaf and Opla for the test. Then it's not private at all if you reply back. It should not work this way
