dreamstime.com Tell us the complete withdrawal method.

[Email reply]

"Hello,

Thank you for contacting Dreamstime.
You can disable all files approved more than six months ago at any time. You are allowed to disable 30% of files approved in the recent six months, however 70% must be kept online for six months from their approval date. You can disable each of your remaining 70% after the six months pass.

To disable files, please go to My Account/Online files: http://www.dreamstime.com/onlinefiles.php , edit the images. On the following page scroll down and click the trashcan button to delete the image.

Once you no longer have images online, you can suspend the account from the public site from My Account/Edit Profile button.

There must be at least $100 USD in the earnings for the payment system to accept a payment request through your account here:
https://www.dreamstime.com/request_payment.php
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns."

That's what you signed up for when you joined. It hasn't changed since the beginning. What is your question - how do I delete all my images and close my account? You have to wait 60 days and in the meantime you can disable 30% of your files. Since some of your newer images might be in buyer's lightboxes this gives them 60 (2 months) days to purchase them before they are gone. Some big buyers work on monthly schedules. They answered you with the terms and conditions that have been posted on the site since day one. You might not like it but you should have read the terms when you joined. I neither agree or disagree with how they operate but I knew the terms when I signed up. http://www.dreamstime.com/terms#contributors

The file must be deleted one by one.
This is so counter-productive behavior.

...They answered you with the terms and conditions that have been posted on the site since day one...

Not entirely accurate. It is for the OP because they joined after these terms came into effect, but the six month hold was not there at the beginning. After iStock introduced exclusivity, DT added a 12 month hold. A number of us protested that and they shortened it to 6 months. Later they added the rules about deleting part of the portfolio over time.

And as far as protecting buyers, their rules don't. I haven't uploaded to DT in the last 6 months, so I could delete 100% of my portfolio immediately if I wanted to. Alamy protects buyers in that you can delete your files but there's a wait before they're gone, regardless of when you uploaded them.

DT's rules are punitive, not to protect the buyer. And the OP is right, pretty much everywhere else but iStock lets you get the files deleted en masse, but DT makes you do it the hard way. There's zero reason for that beyond their view that they should not put themselves out to help a contributor leave more easily.

Yes Jo Ann you are correct. Those terms were changed in 2006. But, if you want to drag out old info traditional stock agencies used to require years of locked-in images. Even some other microstock sites used to require lock-ins of years (123RF). Times have changed and not for the better when it comes to the contirubtors. Yes, microstock is its own beast and no one wants to commit to any one or 2 sites these days. People join, become exclusive, drop exclusivity, delete their images, join other agencies, come back to the first, delete them all, get in trouble and then want to upload again. Bottom line, any terms, no matter when you sign up should be read and any change in terms should be communicated to the contributors with an option to not accept the changes and to bow out altogether. I agree that deleting each image one by one is a pita but it has been stated in the forums that those with large ports can email support to ask for mass deletion. Did the OP try that? The reference to other agencies' policies has nothing to do with DT, each agency has their own set of rules.

I am so disappointed.   I was expecting a completely different discussion about the withdrawal method.

Why do you wish to delete all files? Exclusive?

Annoying - you can however run a macro to automate it. http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/deleting-images-from-dt-and-ft-looking-for-scripts/ hope this still works!

1-. Open a new account with Dreamstime.

 2-. Become exclusive with them.

3-. Add the same photos for both. When they discover that you are not exclusive and you have two accounts they will close automatically.
