I have been unable to sign in to dreamstime today and all that keeps coming up is what appears to be a dreamstime page asking for my old password and for me to create a new password - it does not allow me to go to supprt or any other page without doing this first - also the English explanation is a bit stilted in how it is written which also has me a bit worried - maybe I am overreacting but I am worried DT might have been hacked in some way and they are trying to get at my account?  I have emailed support but it's the weekend. Anybody else experiencing this? It just seems so out of charcter for DT and there has been no notice from DT about changing account passwords?

This is what's worrying me - I seem to be the only one - plus I buy a lot there whereas people I know who submit rather than buy are not getting this page either.

This from Achilles on the forum, here - http://www.dreamstime.com/thread_23465

I've just been forced to change my password...

Nothing strange, we're adding more security features to better protect from phishing emails and such. It seems most people use the same password for years and spread it over several sites, which is unsafe. Passwords must be changed regularly and should be more complex (your name followed by the birthyear is a no no).

Try to connect your account in DT from another computer - friends, neighbours, e.t.c. If it will be OK, scan your PC from spyware!

Thanks for the advise Grandpa  ;D  I did try that on another computer I have and it brought up the same page - I will run a virus scan to see if it finds anything.

Again, it is a new security feature that was announced. Everyone at DT will eventually have to reset their password. This is common on many sites and DT is just starting to enable it.

Thanks for this - as mentioned I have no problem doing this but DT should have let us know - IS was hacked a year or so ago in a very similar fashion - DT should also have provided a link which allowed us to verify this was what it was about - the only link they provided was an outside link to an article on about.com detailing how it is good to change your passwords every once and awhile - I couldn't even access the forums to see what was going on. Add to the fact that it happens on a Friday night when most people know that DT support is unavailable for 2 days and you have an iffy looking situation.

Anyway, many thanks for letting me know ... much appreciated - and of course glad to know it's not an evil hacker ;D

I agree that it should have been announced or better yet, a mass email could have been sent. My old password is still ok but I noticed the question on the forum early this morning so suspect I too will soon have to change my password. These days any oddity that shows up when signing into any site breeds suspicion.

Yeah, I don't know why sites insist on posting important information on their forums, where it often gets lost in the shuffle. For this exact reason. Mass emails on IMPORTANT stuff would sure be an improvement. Most of us now have the capability of seeing email from our phones. So if our computer is down, at least we still have another way to check emails.

Actually, they didn't post anything about it in the forum until after someone had been forced to change his password and posted a query about it. Only then did they bother to say that it was legit.

Bad communications, must do bettter!

As many times as it's been said "don't do it unless you have confirmation from the company" but then couldn't sign on to find out why....well what was that all about?
