I have had an email from DT stating that a buyer would like to purchase exclusive rights license to one of my images. It is also with SS/IS. I have no idea when I follow the link in the email what to set the price to as it is between 250-5000.

Has anyone had experience selling exclusively ?

experience says they never buy at the price you want - wast of time.

I got a request like that once, set a price of a few hundred and never heard anything.

The problem is that these so-called "agencies" aren't really agencies.  A real agent would serve as a go-between and try to negotiate a price.  Dreamstime is just some code running on a server.

Thanks to the way these "agencies" have relentlessly devalued their products over the years, these buyers are probably expecting to get exclusive rights for $10.

I have had at least 20 requests like this and never once did they ever follow through and purchase it. Waste of time and dt expects you to respond to that customer. I now ignore those requests or I put in $5000 to $ 10,000.

I think I am having the same experience.  Set a price of few hundred for exclusive rights.  That was a few days ago.  Nothing happened so far.  No download.

As you have probably very little chances to sell the exclusivity better to set a high price, $5 000 - 10 000.
You could win!

I'm not sure but exclusivity means also not sale no more in other site (you said SS,IS) included similar shots or same subject in diferent positions. Someone know about that? :(

I think DT offering the option at all is a waste of time. If someone really wants to buy out the rights to an image they'll either contact me directly. Often times I think having the option for them to simply click a button to request a buyout is more to just see what your price would be. They are rarely serious buyers.

A serious buyer will typically contact the artist directly or make a serious inquiry with the agency. I had one buyout through SS for $3,000. My end of it was $3,000, I have no idea what the actual sale price was, but I'd assume at least double that.

There are serious buyers out there, but I highly doubt they are ever going to make an exclusive purchase through the automated system at DT.

It's just an arty, organic nature background texture that is just only a single image. No variations. If a huge company like Ikea/M@S were to buy for inside their stores then the price would be paid for sure. I set it at 500 but think I will go to 5000. Of course I have , and will later hear nothing.

I did revise the price but DT have emailed me saying that the buyer did receive the initial offer of 250. No way do I want it to go this cheap. DT say I have to change the price manually buy editing the file. That is the exact same way I did it in the first place. The only way you can set the price is where it says "set a price" with submit next to it.
