Im having the worst nightmare to close dreamstime account. I have never sold anything consistently in that site and they are telling me that will take 6 months to close the account. What can I do? I need to be exclusive with another agency really soon and need to close this account. Any thoughts?

Email them for fast closer and see what they say... or wait for 6 month before getting exclusive.
Same is the case with alamy too.

You can delete each image in your portfolio one by one... hard long work but it can be done

I used macro recorder that automates mouse and keyboard operation to delete all my images there. Once you configured it everything goes quit fast.

I could be wrong because its been years since I quit dreamstime, but I think they have a rule where you can only delete a certain percentage of your images a certain time length from when they were uploaded. You might check the contributor terms.

EDIT:
Yes, those terms are still true. From the contributor agreement:
Contributors are required to keep at least seventy (70%) percent of their portfolio online with Dreamstime.com for a period of at least six (6) months. You may disable all files older than six months from the date of review at any time. You will be allowed to disable a total of thirty (30%) percent of your total Media submitted within the past six (6) months. Media that was disabled and then enabled again will be counted as new submissions, no matter of their original upload date.

It was simple for me. All my images had been uploaded more than 6 months. So I just deleted them.

I got out of DT years ago, so none of this matters to me, but I'm wondering:  are you really prevented in some way (i.e., in the site code) from just deleting all your files one-by-one, disregarding the agreement?   And if you did, what could DT to you in retaliation?    Sounds like a bluff to me.

I dont know about today, but back when I deleted images, no, I could not just disregard the agreement and delete them all. It stopped me when I got to the percentage, and I had to keep going back as photos aged and delete them. Maybe they are lax about it now, guess its worth a shot.

Or just email them, tell them your entire portfolio is stolen, you don't have any rights to it, you faked the model releases, you've recently found Jesus and want to go straight. They'll close your account and delete everything.

You seem to be asking this question about how much people earn in various agencies quite often.

How much do you earn?

Terrible agency these days. And yes, the time frame is about 6 months to get rid of them once and for all. I've been there, buddy!

How do you know they are really deleted?
The trashcan in the edit section just disables them and if you look at the code you see: This image was uploaded less than 2 years ago.........
Code: [Select]
<script>
                        function do_disable(){
                          if(confirm("This image was uploaded less than 2 years ago. Depending on its quality, it may still have sales potential. Are you sure you want to disable it?")){
                            requestAJAX('/ajax/disable.php?imageid=XXXXXX','disable_holder');
                          }
                        }
                        </script>

While we're all writing to ourselves, the OP posted and hasn't been back since Jan. 19th  :)

I just want to add, that I had no problem and DT was very fair when I closed my account. It took some time and the whole waiting period from last deletion, they sent me payment for all that was still owed. I didn't have many new uploads because I was planning in advance and stopped sending new files.

But I wanted to mention that they were very nice, and after my polite message request to close account and send payment, they did. Might have been 90 days to account for any pending downloads.
