I just had the entire series all but the first one rejected for the reason "Different images must have different title and description". Is this something new?

See this thread;

http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/poll-who-has-the-most-incompetent-inspectors-inspection-process/

Nearly 40% of contributors who voted consider DT to have the most 'incompetent' inspectors or process. Absurd sweeping and inconsistant decisions are 'normal' at DT.

I haven't had that rejection, but I do make sure that my titles are different and include important keywords from the image. I think some people had claimed this made a difference in search placement at DT - an image with keywords and title having the same words ranked higher than one with just that keyword.

The particularly unpleasant part of new "rules" like this is that it whacks your approval percentage which some think affects search placement as well. I don't think any of the sites have the number of punishments for contributors that DT does. If they were going to make a rule of this sort, then they should do a quick search of the database when you click submit and tell you that you can't use that title or description because it's already in use (as someone else could have used it already). That would at least avoid this "gotcha" approach - and theoretically help out their inspectors as they'd only receive files that passed the long list of rules imposed...

it's always been there, but luckily most reviewers realize it's a stupid idea and ignore it.

i sometimes get a rejection for "Too many photos/illustrations on the same subject or from the same series. Your submission should not duplicate content already in your portfolio or content which you plan to upload separately in the future "  but that's different.

trying to come up with different wordings is a waste of time for many sequences - how many variations are there that impart new info for captions like:

Empty glasses on restaurant table in ski resort at Chatel, France

Apres ski - skiers relax in an  outdoor tavern after a day of skiing

Rajasthani wall hanging made of quilted saris, detail

They certainly win the "incompetence" contest.

Ironically, in the same day those were rejected,  I had series of images downloaded with the same titles and descriptions (uploaded a while ago).

I try to avoid negative statements about DT (already accused of biased opinion and banned from their forum) but -- wondering if they are on self-destruct?

That being said -- I'm not having a great month at any of my outlets.   :(

Do they still have that feature on the upload page to copy metadata from the previous image (including title, description & keywords)??  If so, this sort of rejection seems strange...

yep, still there - and i find it useful since it saves a lot of scrolling down all the categories fo a series of images

I think, the greatest part of DT reviewers are normal and objective peoples, but there is one specially ''smart'' reviewer, who write these stupid answers (other reviewers use standard rejection templates). Interesting, he want different titles AND description - my images of one theme with different titles, but the same description was rejected. For fun - once i submitted photo of the woman, resting in armchair and got rejection reason: '' woman is with half opened eyes'' ! How must she relax - with full opened or closed eyes?

Yeah I got that for my last bunch of submissions. Pretty crazy right? I mean it's a shot of the same building done from different angles, how many ways can I call it in the title and description?

For interest - http://www.dreamstime.com/Bepsphoto_more-latest-adition_pg1 reviewer accepted 41 (!) photo with the same title ''Girl in underwear'' and the descriptions in groups of 5 - 7 identical. This photographer was more saccesfull as we, others...

I have a few myself.

Yes this is like you can't call bread "bread" everytime you eat it.

You have to call it white stuff, square pieces, things we have for breakfast etc.

This QC person introduces a new dimension in our life.  ;D

Sounds like next will be rejections for similar keywords: "Please do not use re-use keywords you have already used in previously submitted images."

Far-fetched? I hope so.....
