Title: Dream Editorial
Post by: strikerx98 on February 07, 2008, 00:45
So I get a message that Dreamstime is accepting ET.  Great I think!  I have some but as soon as I start uploading, site goes down.  Was it me?  Did I cause a rift in the infrestructure or the space tim contiuum???

Ready to upload but I guess they're not ready for me.   :-[

They go off-line for about 10-15 minutes every morning around this time.  I assume it is to do maintenance and site updates.  Try again after 1 AM EST.

So I guess I'll try again in about 10-15 minutes.  Do you know which other companies also accept editorial?

Thanks,
Connie

Shutterstock.  I've never attempted to submit editorial to them however.  Take a browse through their images (select editorial when running a search) to see what is currently being accepted.

I've noticed the same ... that's DT's down for 15-30 minutes tops each day. About 30-45 minutes ago whatever time that was for your part of the world :)    For me its always around 10pm Pacific Time in the U.S.

Sounds about right.  And considering how stable their system is compared to the other major sites, I have to say they are doing the right thing.

Shutterstock, Featurepics and Scanstock. Alamy also obviously, but that's macrostock.

I have one accepted so far from a beach volleyball event where I go each year. I uploaded it more because of the 5$ than the incomes I can get from it.

I have a lot of pro tennis shots, and I uploaded a batch of 30 and submitted just a few for review - to test the waters - all were accepted. I"ll put the rest through to see what happens. My tennis editorial shots have been selling steadily on SS, so I hope DT will sell them too. Good move on DT's part, definitely!

I tested waters with editorial there, submitted 10, non were accepted, due to the type of images ( they are all parade pictures )
So I really don't know what they are looking for.

I also have one accepted, but the $5 bonus only applies to photos picked for the "In the News" section.  :(

Thanks for posting, Mark.  I'm glad to see they are talking about editorial really and not just "newsworthy" as in the past.  This is an image that can be used in many occasions.

Regards,
Adelaide

But, I don't understand exactly. Editorial is for using in some magasine or newspaper a thing like this? How can they pay just 1 or 2 credit like in royalty free and what use can they make whit 1 or 2 credits?

I'm lost...

I'm lost as well. Is it 1 or to credits or is it $5? Does anybody have a link to a place that says something about payment for this?

I just got a couple editorials accepted I took at a Mardi Gras parade here in Mexico (Dreamstime).  I uploaded them also at Panthermedia but given their review times it is probably time for christmas pics by the time they get reviewed.

I'm pretty happy with the editorial submissions.  I just put up a bunch of Chinese New Year parade shots, and one's sold

Great for travel pics.

Great shot! But if you had cloned the TED out and some logos on the trucks, you could have had uploaded it as commercial stock and made much more, since it's a fantastic shot.
