The subject pretty much says it all, I got a 1099 in the mail today from DT with my address and account name, but a different person's name and TIN and the $ amount was not correct for me either.  I did check to W-9 on file at DT and it is correct. I sent them an e-mail so I guess I'll see what they say. I hope my name SS# and $ amount wasn't sent to someone else.

Same here!

Different name, different SSN (last 4 digits), different yearly earnings, but the same address as me.

This is messed up!  >:(

I emailed them and got this response:

"We are aware of the issue with the 1099s.
An unfortunate error occurred with the file and we are working quickly to get this corrected and new 1099s sent out."

I have my name, city, and state hidden by default, although it would be easy enough to find - and presumably they sent my name in error. It is a pretty bad breach by DT. Not as bad as when some place was letting buyers see model releases with all their info, but still pretty bad.

I looked up the person who's data I got - they have 1/3 the income with 2.5 times the images. I think DT likes me (or they hate others more - and they might have sent my private info to someone else). I guess lots of similar travel images don't do all that well on DT.

I could easily find my dude's state and city and I have the last 4 digits of his SSN.
His full address may be also found with a bit of extra digging.

I can only hope that whoever got my details will not use them in a nefarious way  >:(

I guess they misread their database columns and did it for everyone. That is a big oops.

I received someone else's 1099, but my address.

It was always my understanding that DT doesn't send tax info for under $600, which I did NOT make, but neither did the person's 1099 I got.

"I understand what you are saying but all the columns became offset on the file.
So, while your name is on there, it is not your last 4 or your address.

The forms only show the last 4 digits of the social anyways, but the one listed does not go with the name on the form.

All we can do is amend all the forms at this point and that is what is being done.
We are all human here and unfortunately, mistakes happen."

Oh it's a big cock up. I was alerted by another DT member about a week ago that they had received a 1099 with my husband's name (we both have accounts). The TIN wasn't that of our company - or hers for that matter. She didn't divulge the $ amount but I'm guessing it was wildly off. Today I received 2 1099s from DT - one with my husband's account name on it, the other with my account name on it. 2 different names and 2 different TINs/SS #s. I didn't bother checking $ amounts cause I already know the 1099 is invalid and I'll end up destroying them.

Hopefully no one will be badly affected by this breach and we'll all get our 1099s in a timely manner. The clock is ticking for us S Corporations - tax due date for us is March 15th!

As for the person commenting they thought DT didn't send out tax info for under $600, I believe they are required to send one out for any amount - no matter how small.

Anyone know when this is going to be fixed? I need to file my taxes.

Dont you record the payments you receive?  You dont actually need a 1099 in hand.

Even if you don't have any records of what you've been paid, Dreamstime does. You can use site stats to see what you've earned in royalties in a given year, or use the yearly payments list:

Or look at a list of your past payment requests

Thank you both. Of course I can look at what I've received but if Dreamstime decides to erroneously report this number (which they've demonstrated they are more than capable of), I'm going to be surprised by the IRS with a notice of unpaid tax due. I kind of like to know they got it right.

I do my taxes by the cash method.  Its what comes into my account during the year.  I dont really care what any of the agencies report.

In my experience, the only agency with discrepancies is AS. For the rest (DT inclusive), whatever lands in Paypal is what I see on their reports.

The IRS will care. If an agency reports something that you don't report, they're going to be asking you some questions.

No, they wont.

Oh ok.  ::)  If the IRS thinks you didnt pay taxes on a 1099, they will be sending you a letter. Not sure why you think otherwise.

Waiting on the updated forms at least gives me a reasonable excuse for not doing my taxes yet.

Income isnt in any way reported per agency with 1099s.  Its all just income.  Its 8 agencies, its assignment work.  Its headshots.  Its just a big pot of income.  None of the agencies could send you a 1099 and it wouldnt matter as long as you report what you received.

Even if they would, you can simply state the truth: DT has erroneously displayed the wrong amount on the form, as confirmed by DT in this forum post.

But the IRS would never send you a notice because some random agency decides to send out faulty 1099 forms. It doesn't work that way.

If the person, who has my 1099 from Dreamstime, happens to see this: Could you, please, send it to me? I file as a S-Corp and that's due March 15th and apparently Dreamstime is not making this happen.

Thanks!

The problem is there's no knowing if anything with your name on it is actually correct. I conversed with the person who received my 1099 (she sleuthed the name) and her address was right, my name was right, the TIN number and dollar amount didn't match either one of us. I'm dropping my S Corp taxes off with my accountant on Monday and hoping for the best even though I don't have a 1099 from Dreamstime.
Adobe sent it correctly.
Shutterstock provided it electronically.
Getty provided it electronically.
Dreamstime .... wrong info and now a no show. Here's hoping they get their act together at some point. (Yeah, yeah, I know - I'll receive the 1099 on the 16th of March)
