Hi there,

im new on DT. Do you think its a good idea, uploading parts of my IS portfolio to DT or is it better uploading to other agencies? 1st attempt on SS 6 von 10 are accepted. Have to wait 23 days for the next trial.

Thanks for your replies.

Dreamstime is a top site, so I wouldn't have any doubts about uploading there.

Stockxpert and Fotolia can also be quite good.

Thank you Tyler, for your quick response. How long does it take for the 1st DL? What youre thinking about my portfolio. Im not really a stockphotographer (means product-photos, studio-pics). I prefer landscapes, macros and abstract images. So i dont know, if ive any chance on SS.

it depends.  I think dreamstime has a lot more even sales over the whole portfolio that istock does.  Dreamstime seems to be down again right now so i didn't look at your portfolio but sales come in fairly steady there.

Landscapes and nature can sell well if they are done well.

Dreamstime is a site you absolutely should contribute to if you are independent.  As Leaf says, your sales should be more spread out at DT than at iStock.  (Although for most people, iStock sales are greater than Dreamstime sales)

I'm not sure why it is for my portfolio, but it seems images take 2 to 4 weeks if not more before they start to get downloads at Dreamstime.  Not all the time of course, but most of the time.  Does anybody else notice a similar trend?

I too would reccommend DT.
Good consistent sales and a very well run site.

It is a good site, very nice and user friendly page - what makes you think that you shouldn't upload your pics there ? The only downside are slow reviews, but - so what ?

Regarding "how long does it take for the first DL ?"
Well, how long is a piece of string ?

Add me to the chorus of folks who think you should definitely upload your istock images to DT.  Dreamstime sales are not quite as much as istock, but they are consistently my #3 or #4 seller.

They are a great site.  Can't say for sure when you will start to see sales, but I do know that rejection rate plays a role in search placement there, so be sure to go over your files carefully and only submit ones that are likely to be accepted.

You can't discount the RPD growth either.  You probably won't notice much advantage as a new contributor, but once your images start hitting Levels 2 and 3, it will make a big difference for you.

Thank you all for your responses. Yesterday i had my 1st DL (0,35$) ;D.
How can i call attention for my portfolio. Are DT-Lightboxes (private lbx on IS) and Collections (public lbx on IS) a good way or do you know a better way?

Lightboxes/collections are only viewable by buyers if they contain images from other contributors.  So you will want to mix and match.  You can also get attention by writing useful and interesting blogs, though I wouldn't hold my breath on a sales pop.

Otherwise I don't think there is a secret to getting attention to your portfolio.  It basically comes down to a numbers game at any site, provided you are producing quality images with proper keywording.
