I am not sure why you don’t see it, but I requested PayPal payment from DT few hours ago and PayPal opinion was there for sure, without any problems. But it was not on top of the list as it used to be (as far as I remember), but it was moved down instead, below "Payoneer mastercard" section.

An admin mentioned that the PayPal fees went up so they "prefer" not to use it. If you are already set up to receive payment that way it remains as an option. If you are new or want to switch to PayPal you have to contact Support to get it set up. Often the easiest way to find this out is to search the forums - http://www.dreamstime.com/thread_36966 (http://www.dreamstime.com/thread_36966)

Thank you for the answers.
I have contacted them.

Thanks for that info.  I had wondered why paypal suddenly moved to the bottom of the choices after always being at the top.  Seems like both PP and Skrill have upped their fees, but paypal is charging the sender and skrill is changing the recipient.

Everybody wants their pound of flesh, it seems.

FYI, I've been using Paypal there for 8 years. This morning, it was still there, but when I clicked submit, the form wanted me to fill in Moneybookers ID and wouldn't process. I emailed support and they said that "The Paypal option has been activated for your account." It worked for me later

When I asked what happened, I was told, "It was removed from all accounts. It can only be activated by special request."

So apparently, if you are using Paypal, you will have to ask to have it enabled for you.

I assume paypal was starting probably one of their BS actions against DT and threatening them to lock their account and steal their money if Achilles does not send immediately the birth certificate of his grandfather from the mothers side who had a bad reputation with their transylvanian branch in 1885. But of course all this is pure speculation :-)

But seriously. I think you could ask them if it has to be paypal for you. I would switch to payoneer.

EDIT: ok, just read its working for you again...great! Nevertheless I would think about switching to Payoneer ;-)

I try to avoid having to pay fees to put  my earnings in my bank account. Based on the exchange with Payoneer's representative this morning in the thread about 123rf having Payoneer (and my difficulty finding fee information without signing up), it would cost me $2 to move money to my bank via Payoneer.

I'm not paying them anything unless there's no free choices left and they're the lowest rip off available.

I realize that in some countries/currencies, there is no fee-free option, so Payoneer may look a whole lot better than it does to me.

Yeah, before I change the way I've run my business for the past 8+ years, I will spend considerable time investigating options and not base it on a random action by one vendor. I did ask if I missed some communication a I didn't know there was a problem until I tried to get money - which isn't ideal.

I looked briefly at Moneybookers/Skrill and will look at Payoneer, but right now Paypal works for everyone I do business with so I'm not likely to change without a good reason.

How cheap can these businesses be?  They take 80% of the sale price and can't afford a 1% to pay contributors?

Exactly. They have a marketing budget in the $M's to pay for exploring new markets.

We've seen all this before with other agencies. Nothing ever came of the big plans other than millions of free downloads from 'hostage images' for years after the 'trials' were supposed to have finished.

If you give your images away for free then it simply proves that you don't value them ... and I can absolutely assure you that the recipient of your images will regard them with equal contempt and abuse the terms of any 'license' they may be granted.

You need to ensure you are permanently opted out of such dubious, non-specific 'opportunities' as these "Alliances". The terms are hidden for a reason. If you knew what they were then you wouldn't go near them ... which is why they don't tell you.

fyi, it's apparently against the rules to post the reply from an admin on the DT forum. Since, according to the admin, this problem would affect everyone using Paypal, and per the admin's original reply he/she didn't know about it, I thought it would be useful information for the contributors, but the post was locked with "EDIT: Messages from support are private. Please don't post them on our message board." and the following snarky statement: "Dbvirago, I've told you to write to support because we prefer investigating first and then offer an accurate answer by email."

I don't understand why my posting the answer was a problem. Also don't understand, if all contributor's Paypal access was locked out and had to be unlocked by special request, that my issue would require any investigation - it should have been known by all admins and support. Of course, if some advance notice of this change had been issued, the entire problem could have been avoided. I asked in my last email to support if there was notification that I missed and that question was never answered.

Like many others have posted here, I have always been treated fairly by Dreamstime. I wouldn't have been shocked by this type of response at Istock, but it really took me by surprise at DT. I won't bother with their forum in the future.

Yes, might be true for US people. It works way better there...or should. If you are outside the US the paypal conversion is outrageously high. Tunneling the money through paypal means losing 5-10% of my income to them. Plus: they are not reliable from my experience. I had too many issues with them in the past who had not been necessary.

Payoneer: I never used their transfer to bank account feature. I just spend the money right from the card or withdraw it from there at a ATM. I believe this is the original Idea. But if you would use it I think I could afford to pay $2.

From Dreamstime? Did you have to contact them for the option?

Yes, from DT, and no i didn't have to do anything unusual. The Paypal option is no longer on the the top, but it's been that way for maybe a couple of months already.

Not necessarily wishing to kick a company that's on it's knees - but such actions and adversity to it's suppliers (usually) suggest a company in trouble.

It has been rumoured for a (very) long time that the first 'big' company to fold may be Dreamstime. All these negative actions and reactions could be the beginning of the death throws of the first sacrificial lamb due to global changes in the micro stock market.

When a company starts bitching about a 1% commission charge you know they're in deep dodo.

I for one, will not miss DT for a second, or FT or RF123 either to be honest. I think they have all had their day :)

In one year from now I suspect they'll only be three or four companies left in this business, and I very, very much doubt if DT will be one of them.

This thread had me concerned so I went and requested a payout from DT just a matter of minutes ago.  Everything went through just fine.  PayPal was the top choice on the page.  I just entered the appropriate e-mail address, hit the request payment button and it went straight through without question.  Perhaps I'll get an e-mail later with some issues, but for now all is good.  As someone else mentioned, this could be an issue with non-US payments.

Then I was mis-informed, or they turned it back on before the floodgates opened. As I said, support told me, "It was removed from all accounts. It can only be activated by special request."

Unfortunately, I don't have to use it as often as I used to.

I used the PayPal option a few days ago and received my payment in a day. I'm in the US. It never disappeared from my options. Perhaps it isn't offered to new contributors or those outside the US?

I've been using it for 8 years. First time I had a problem. It worked fine the next day. Obviously, the statement that they have disabled it for everyone wasn't true or was for a very short time and that is when I tried to get payment.
