Did I just miss this or is it new?  On the refused files tab there is now a box that allows you to submit a refused file ID for re-evaluation.  The text says "Help us assess our review process by using the box below to insert the IDs of files you feel were incorrectly evaluated"  there is a limit of 5 per week.

I picked my 5 and sent it to them.  If this is real I think it is great, a way to simply disagree with an evaluation.  I submit to 5 sites, so I sent DT 5 images that were approved at all sites except DT.

Has anyone else seen this?

I give up On DT after 6 years. It;s falling apart. Time for a new site to emerge.

DT is becoming the worst out there where reviewing is concerned, I'm losing interest.

They just raised my blood pressure for rejecting 90% of my last batch because the dezcription wasn't good enough. And it was, descriptive (enough) and individual for every single photo. I wanted just to drop them since my earnings are going south as well since.the introduction of the new price/level scheme. So I'll give 'em one more shot. Time for SS to introduce exclusivity, I've had it with most of the sites...

Well, you could upload your 140 and be unfortunate enough that their "IS" reviewer gets a bunch of them  ;D

I wasn't aware of this feature either until I read this posting.
Thank you.

Yesterday DT rejected a photo because of "focus/DOF" issues.
I remember looking through the viewfinder and thinking: "This
is a money shot." I really did. Doesn't happen very often but I
knew everything came together: composition/lighting/focus etc.
SS has had it for less than a week now and its' sold 7 times....

I used the "don't be mad at us" resubmission feature that you
pointed out to see what their response will be. Regardless, if
they accept this time around I'm going to quickly remove it.
There have been just too many recently that are selling well
with other agencies yet rejected by DT. Get it right the first time
is my mantra. It should be theirs as well.

I have one little set of images, DT reject most of them and it's nice to see that they are one best selling images in SS and FT :) DT rejected.. there was too narrow sharpen areas.. or focus was not where they like.. but it is right there where I and some customers like it ;)

At the beginning theirs description politics was a little tricky for me.. but now I handle it quite well. Not so many rejects any more.

Good luck in trying to reason with these guys, their god complex gets in the way and justifies every action they make!
I suggest you add "Go Flip Burgers" to that resubmission ;)

I hadn't seen that, but it sounds like a handy little feature.  I don't see a down side to any of the sites implementing features that help improve the reviewing process.

Been awhile since I had a rejection at DT that I thought was unreasonable, but if I should have a rejection that doesn't make sense to me, I will certainly use this resubmit option :)

Same here. I stopped uploading to Dreamstime last year after 83% of a carefully selected batch was rejected, supposedly for the ridiculous "too many" reason, despite having had a 90% acceptance rate historically.

Maybe they are finally waking up to the fact that many of their most productive contributors have given up on them?

How will this effect the acceptance %. If they decide they were right and re-reject it do you get another rejection on your % - or if they decide they were wrong and accept it, do they remove the rejection and add an acceptance?

I think all sites should have some review of their inspection process.

I've appealed rejections before and been rewarded with a reversal but it always impacts my acceptance ratio which is oddly important with DT. All I've ever wanted was for them to allow a re-submit without it being considered a new submission and effecting that * ratio. Maybe this will streamline things a bit.

Still, seems like a make work project, if reviews weren't taking long enough before, imagine how much longer it'll take with appeals coming in left and right on top of it.

Well, it says you are limited to 5 per week, and I got the impression that someone else would be checking the images, maybe a 'second' level reviewer?  Anyway, they specifically ask for images you disagree with the reviewer on.  I picked 5 that had been approved at 4 other sites, and no 'similars' as I know they are different in that regard.  I don't agree with their similar policy at all, but that is their choice and not what I think they are asking for here.

By faaaar my best selling pictures on SS are rejected on DT for the reason: Not what we are looking for ...  :o :o . WoooW; those pictures alone have generated a lot of money on SS in a very short time. Yes, DT will fall apart at this rate.

Could be a good idea, but it's likely to be filled up mostly by ppl stubbornly pushing stuff that is... just junk, to be honest. I say that because if you look out for the similars thing, DT hardly rejects anything. Standards are anything but high, and if you think reviewers are unreliable, so are contributors since reviewers are picked from contributors. Look at their keyword reporting - I got my models standing in jeans noted of the keyword jeans. People are.... you know... lets be polite...  ::) 8)

Nice feature. I've sent them back photos that were rejected because "Illustration is too simple".

When doing a re-submit you at least get to make your case as to why you disagree with the rejection which is important since how else will they see your point of view. This feature only allows you to send image ID numbers. I'm not sure they'll ever change their decision based on an ID number.

I had 6 images rejected for the recent assignment because they were "looking for something more elaborate."

When they weren't reconsidered before the contest ended - pretty annoying - I uploaded them elsewhere with good results. Haven't heard on any of them yet but they were all shot specifically for stock and 4 specifically for the competition with well-thought out concepts - 2 were portraits, one was nature/landscape, and the rest still life. Not a clue what wasn't elaborate enough - though in the past when I've resubmitted photos rejected for that reason they've been accepted on reconsideration. I uploaded a bunch of similar concept photos in April figuring they'd take some and reject others but they took them all - so this blanket rejection of varied photos that were on the money for the assignment was discouraging.

This was also my worst month ever on DT (aside from my first few months when I had only a handful of images) - I made less than 1/4 of what I normally do and have already made more over this past weekend than I did for the entire month of May - meantime sales were above average on SS and Alamy and average on iStock & fotolia. My sales on DT had been steadily climbing for a while so this drop off a cliff was out of the blue. I have 1/3 as many images on iStock and still made more there than on DT. And they accept my new stuff - I'll probably have as many images there as I do on DT shortly.

I get challenges to my keywords that make no sense from time to time. It's annoying but I reply politely and it never ends up being a problem.

Not a clue what wasn't elaborate enough.
I have had rejections of my illustrations as 'too simple'. It is sort of the opposite of the scene in Amadeus where the emperor criticizes one of Mozart's concertos for having 'too many notes'. So I go back and add more lines, and some stars and rainbows.

It is pretty obvious what the 'not elaborate enough' rejection means for photos:
For example, if your photo is of a house, you may need to add more houses. Hire a construction company if necessary.

If the photo is of a person, does the person have just one nose? Consider adding more noses to make the photo sufficiently elaborate. Five or six eyes is obviously more elaborate and therefore better than just a couple of them.

If the rejected photo was a skyscape, travel to a country where there are more clouds, or better yet, a planet where the solar system has more than one sun. An added benefit of such a trip is that the aliens in these star systems may have several noses and dozens of eyes, making for sufficient elaborateness in you people shots.
