my model lost her phone and is between phones. she has no number. (how a 19 yo girl is surviving in this world without a phone is a mystery!) So my MR is missing the phone number and they've rejected it.

It's kind of ridiculous to think that you'll be able to contact her on that number in say, a year's time, because it's quite likely she'll have a different number by then anyway. Google & FB (or their future equivalents) will be how we find people, right?

so I can either:
a) fight it
b) wait for her to get a new number
c) put her old number... or any number ...

If it were me, I'd create a number with a 555 area code and see what happens.

I will put my own number. That is the closest they will be able to get to the model telephonically then in any case.

that would be hilarious.... for an Australian number.

Stick her old number in, who cares.

they aren't going to make an international call to an australian mobile number. (or is it just us aussies who fear at the extortionate rates we pay for o/s calls?) why not ask for her skype id instead?

even paper MRs are a joke. digi versions where I take a pic of the model on site - clearly consenting to the shoot - is much better.

[rant over, i'll work it out, thanks]

DT is the only agency I've encountered who does this.  I've shots of homeless people which were rejected for no phone number.  Just located the nearest flop house and used their number and all was fine.  What would you do if you were in the African back country shooting native life?  No phone for hundreds of miles in any direction.  So while you should try your best to get a legitimate number, if it's beyond all reasonable efforts, just plug in anything that is remotely close and go for it.  I doubt they actually ever call to see if the number is legit or not.

You bring up some good points, because those people dont have a phone or email so how do you handle that. I mean, if they dont have a number and email, the agency just has to accept that. Does anybody know how that works?

it's a weird standard coming from an agency that only requires one model release per human, rather than per shoot, like everywhere else.  I could, in theory, now stalk this model and shoot her everywhere and still use the pics.

** update. how funny, she emailed me to ask for copies for her portfolio, and I got her new number off her. problem solved.... this time.
