I have not had any downloads in the past 3 days at DT. That NEVER happens, whatever they did to the search algorithm completely killed my port. I've been with them since 2004 and it's never been this bad.

It use to be one of my top earners. It is very sad what has happened. They have dropped off so bad...

I'm uploading to istock now that they are accepting everything...

DT is doing very poorly for me. They have almost the same set of images that Shutterstock does but they manage about 1/10  the income. I've had 3 sub downloads today, but prior to that there was one sub on Feb 9th!! It's pitiful. I see weekdays without downloads and the occasional credit sale on a level 4 or 5 image doesn't even begin to make up for the loss of volume.

Looking just at January, I made less than half what I did in Jan 2015 and about 28% of what I made in Jan 2013.

I'm still $40 from my first payout. In not sure if I should remove my small portfolio when that happens and put all my efforts behind the bigger earners or leave it there and wait another year or two to earn another payout.

I would keep the photos there. It doesnt hurt. Sale is a sale. Anyway DT was also one of the big earners and changed now. The same can happen with big earners now. I would keep my photos everywhere. Maybe next year DT is on top again. Mirco

I would keep my portfolio too, but considering their special requirements (minimum 5 word description, title must be different from description) it's not worth for me too upload there anymore, sales are very low and not worth the extra effort.

For me DT is a site with an "antique" spirit.
The world of microstock, the needs of customers, the way to communicate have changed a lot these last 10 years (and in the era of Internet 10 years are so much).
And DT did not get it; they refuse to change because of some kind of stupid pride (only idiots never change opinion), and don't adapt to the real needs of the actual market.
In a world moving so fast or you adapt or you die

---
On DT sales are very spasmodic one day 10 sales, then one week without any sale, and (do it) again (Serban)

DT is dead for me.
I will vive thme few months then Delage m'y portfolio if nothing changes.
I am tired to support sites without nothing in exchange. Less images they will have in their library, more chance buyers will shop on sites which pay me.

i agree.  DT was my 2nd top earner.  now..its sunk to the ranks for Canstock.  Fotolia on the other hand has taken off after many years of submitting suddenly in the past 6 months (around the time DT died).  i recently posted on DT's own message board requesting advise from the seasoned pro's who are earning and not a single person was able to offer advise.

I think my concern is that if the site continue to slow down at its current rate, I may not even reach another payout without uploading more content. I'm being optimistic when I say I may reach it in a year or two.

This is very good advice.  You already went to the trouble of uploading them.   The way this industry changes from year to year, you never know who's gonna be up or down next.  Year or two ago, FT was all but dead for me, and people pulling ports rigjt and left over DPC issue.  Then Adobe buys them and now they are a great earner.  DT is still owned by its original owner.  He might sell out to a big company and then DT could be on top of the heap.

I'm still making the same money on DT, but 200% larger port than year ago, and 500% larger than two years ago. Lengthy submission process. Not my favourite agency.

I agree. DT is still a somewhat fair agency, but I don
t like how they've set up the search to spread the wealth because that means it is no longer about the quality (or usability) of your images. It is about volume.  I have 2-3 big volume images that no longer get downloaded there.  And, strangely, my old stuff has been selling in trickles lately.  But if DT is in trouble, they are likely to be bought rather than simply closing down. So, for me it's not bad enough to yank my port yet.

Maybe the big earners don't want to advise people how to to take their sales from them ;)

DT makes good returns on older popular images, which makes for a good balance with other sites making more for newer images. If you have been doing this less than a couple of years don't expect DT to perform as well as other sites. It is for the long haul.

I used to make $100 every month then for a few months it went to around $50, then it just complete fell off a cliff.

They have a hugh problem with content, designers and I am a designer so I know, really like photographs at multiply angles and lots of variations of the same image, we need them when we put our designs together.

I hate having perfectly decent images rejected because of their similar policy, I find it a complete waste of my time.

I suspect that they are protecting their exclusives by rotating less to the independents, this is not how to run a site, if your work is good it should sell.

They have completely missed this market and it is difficult for them to get it back, DT is heading one way.

It seems that in DT they have not an idea of the "real work world"; they probably have not an idea about the work process of a designer (projecting, gathering material, evaluating, choosing, etc)
These people sale images but they don't know/understand for what and how they will be used.

Two years ago I have had some email exchange with Serban, trying to share with him my personal experience in the world of image and visual communication (I have been advertising photographer and designer for more than 25 years and creative director in marketing and advertising agencies for 11 years, so I think that I have a little idea of how it works) At last he stayed on his positions, refusing to see/admit the reality.

Sorry for them, it is their business but if they are so proud to not admit their errors and are happy like this we cannot do a lot

Honestly I don't care. One less agency to upload to.

I still leave my port to make a payout every couple of years though.

If the same happened to FT or SS, then I'd be worried.

I think DT has pretty much flopped and it seemed to happen about the same time as the Adobe/Fotolia purchase.  I don't know if it had anything to do with that, but it does seem like more than a coincidence.  I always liked DT and Pond5, but both of them are totally worthless right now to me.  I'll keep my port going because of the occasional EL, but other than that, I think they shouldn't even be a consideration.

They still reject as similar, if the subject is shot at two different angles. Just happened to me.  :P

I just put my request in to DT to drop me as an exclusive contributor.  I'm planning to fire the operation back up and start shooting new photo and video footage, but to make it even remotely possible to make money on it,  I'm going to have to join SS and IS and upload there as well.  In addition, going forward, I plan to do some shoots and retain the whole of those in my own personal library of images, which will not be made available to any of these agencies, and will be available only through direct licensing with me.  Still waiting on DT to come through with my request but it has only been since Thursday (Feb 25th).......

LMAO and me makes 3 !!!
as i said before, i make more with ss... (as bad as everyone of us make them sound to be here
every so often)... in one month than i make with comatosedreamstime in a couple of
years.
what more the PITA emails i still get every month saying "you have images with zero dl in 3 years
" or whatever crappola they send me is the biggest PITA.
if there is zero dl in 3 years for any images it is dreamstime problem not mine..
why ask me to give it away for free ???

back to ss, even if i have any images, which i don't, with 0 dl in 3 years, ss would never
be a PITA like that, because they do something about it, like that undiscovered or whatever
they call it.  they know it's not a call to do such an idiotic thing..."give away your work for free
since you got 0 dl in 3 years!!!! *for fark sake[/color]
