It's incredible, I've been stopped at $97 for several months... it's like they stopped showing my photos only to not give me the $100 I get every 2 years! This business is a nightmare. Is there a trick? Buying my own photos through a fictitious account just to get the $100? It is certain that as soon as I have my $100, I close my account.

There have recently been summer vacations in a large part of the world. I July i did not have many downloads on DT. But here in August, the sales are back again. And I am way beyound 100$

I contributed to DT from 2018 to 2020 then stop,a few months ago I wanted to start uploading again but frankly I don't have particular faith in an agency that still keeps the minimum threshold at 100,and they know very well that most of the contributors it will never see the light of the day!

You do your thing, I do mine. I've been with DT for more than a decade. The first agency I started submitting images to. Never slashing commissions. Always consistent sales and always part of the top MS agencies. And you're going to close your account because the payout is $100? Do you think somehow that's going to punish Dreamstime? At least they didn't try to manipulate you like the SS by lowering their payout and then lowering the commission.

It's good to hear that you're getting consistent sales. You must be one of the few that do. For many people like myself, sales on DT are far from a regular occurrence. They are super slow. Though I will still contribute to DT (even after I reach payout.) All those sales do add up over time. It's still money in the bank. And the commissions are some of the best around for microstock agencies.

By the way, I'm not all that far from reaching my first payout there. I'm still hanging in there. Maybe in the future, I will have multiple payouts (though I know that will take an eternity!)

by the way didn't they raise the sub download from 0.35 to 0.38 briefly? what was that about?
I kind of like how they adjust the royalty for credit download according to the popularity of images. I wish other agencies consider something like that too

When the pandemic hit and many photographers lost all their income from weddings, events etc…Dreamstime was the only agency that raised payouts by 10% for one year.

Shutterstock slashed our income drastically when people were desperate.

For that reason alone Ii will continue to upload to Dreamstime and support them with my work.

Yes, sales are slow, buy they have same day acceptance which I appreciate and the sales they do get give me a good indication what will also sell later on Adobe. So I can already expand on a series while waiting for the first files to be accepted.

Dreamstime is not a good seller. Not for me. Unfortunately.

Yes, 38c until Sept 2021 but I haven't had more than 35c per DL since then. For me, DLs have just stopped (the last DL was Oct 9th 23} even though I still submit photos & my keywords are good. The number of images in my port increases but sales don't rise in proportion at all. I don't think I will ever get to the $100 payment which is a shame because the agency ethos is good, SS on the other hand, my sale DLs are over 10x more for similar photos.
Why do the horrible (mean to contributor) agencies get more sales?

Customers must purchase your footage till you make 100$ so you can close account. Friends or Family can be customers or not?

My sales on Dreamstime are also about 10 times less than what I get on Adobe. It’s definitely a lower volume site. The big thing I would say makes a difference is in what you upload. Several years ago on this forum someone asked, “Why would someone buy this image?” It sticks with me when I take photos. What would someone use Image X for? Some of your photos are really nice, but some of them seem more like snapshots that don’t have as much utility. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a part of me that thinks micro stock sites only deserves snapshots anymore, but people arent going to buy my images that way.

DT slogs along slowly for me. Since 2018, I've made payout roughly every 18 months. Before that, I made payout 3-4 times a year with a very small portfolio (250-350 images). Since 2022 I increased my portfolio to 500 images since their upload process is so easy, but with a drop in RPD from $1.35 in 2021 to 89 cents in 2022 to 53 cents this year, my income has remained nearly the same even though number of sales increased.

DT isn't the only outlier. I have 100 files on Getty/iStock (unchanged for years) and their $100 payout gets me paid every 18-20 months.

It ticks along, so why would I close the account? I look at it as a surprise $100 every other year, rather than something more reliable.

I normally get to the $100 mark every 6 or 7 months. I do find it curious that as soon as I get around the $95 mark, sales always seem to slow down to a snails pace. I'm sure it's just a coincidence...
