39.5% with 152 accepted.

Don't think there's anything to learn from their rejections. Contrary to their introductory comment on all rejections that they follow a strict standard for acceptance, there is no standard. It really seems to be idiosyncratic to the particular reviewer and, I suspect, an unwritten standard to keep acceptance below 50% for submitters regardless of the quality of submissions.

My submission acceptance rate on all other sites I regularly use is over 90%.

don;t ask. I am embarassed by my statistics and figures here, esp after looking at some of the rates u guys have.... :P

It's so low, much lower than the lowest one here....even lower than "River" so u can imagine how very low. I submit the same photos to all websites except istock, tend to be stricter with my photo submit there but even then, it does not help in my approval rate....hmm...hopefully with my new camera i will see the difference....

58%

nothing too spectacular.  I guess i should stop uploading those pics to 'see if they'll take it :)'

on the other hand, sometimes they do take it and it sells.

Which brings up another discussion is it better to have a large portfolio with some mediocre images in it, or a small very tight portfolio.  I would be interested in hearing some opinions on this.

Don't worry about your acceptance ratio.  Sometimes a refused image is a best seller.  I have an image that was refused the first time around for "too many similar" that was re-uploaded about a year later.  That image is my 3rd best seller with 28 downloads to date.

I had 3 "news" images refused because the reviewer didn't go to CNN.com to see the front page news story.  I pointed this out, provided a link (which wasn't a requirement at the time) and all three were accepted the following day.

I won't say that paying attention hasn't improved my quality because it has, but I'll also say that you shouldn't feel down on yourself because an image has been refused.  Every site has "games" it plays with contributors and if you want to keep up with it, you're going to have to learn to play the game.

Well I do believe in quality rather than quantity.  I submit only 10 images a week, which is carefully select and prepare.  It seems to work.  My Dreamstime portfolio stands at 542 with an acceptance rate of 92.6 %.

58,3 % but lately it got worse.. Certainly also my fault. Since the implemented that feature which allows you to choose that other people will keyword your image for 20c I have been a bit careless about quality. Either they take it or not. I do not have a lot of work with the images. I just have to upload them. If they reject them, I get my 20c back and just have wasted 15sec for the upload.

My acceptance is about 75%.  At first I only uploaded what I thought was good.  Then I uploaded everything and anything - even if I didn't entirely like the angle, etc.  Now I'm back to just what I think is good.

Now that Dreamstime is escalating images to level 2 at 25 sales - I wonder... if you have a series of similar images will designers simply purchase the cheaper one if it is close enough to the level 2 image?  Do you hurt your earnings by having too many similar images?

I've bookmarked favourite photogs at Dreamstime and observed sales from time to time.  One that I really admire is Joss.  He has that spectacular swan reflection that all the agencies use in their marketing.  He has under 600 images, but they are all excellent.  Several downloads every day.  So... in his case, having a (relatively) small portfolio, with tight, exceptional images does very well.  I really respect his body of work....

Maybe it's time to remove my crap!

officially per the site it is 67%.  I thought it was higher (circa 80%) but I had a couple of months with big knock backs so maybe that is about right.

I like Joss's work as well but have you noticed he hasn't uploaded since the end of July 2006?  I'm basing this on his last upload image number.  I thought with someone as successful as he is, it was very strange.  Am curious what he's been up to.

Yeah.  What he said.  I've struggled to get up to 70%, but they seem to accept only my people pictures, so it's slow-going getting stuff uploaded to them.

Used to be in the high 70s, now down to 64%, I may have to upload the photos already been accepted by other site before I try DT now:(

Oh, I forgot to state that and that was part of my point...if a designer is interested enough to click through to a portfolio - a good portfolio would engage the designer to look through it to the end...  and hopefully bookmark it - rather than becoming bored with patches of mediocre images and exiting after a couple page views and forgetting.    Joss does seem to get good sales without uploading often.

So... back to the question... is it better to have an image that "might" sell at somepoint - or to just keep the really good stuff?  In which case, I'll have a pretty empty portfolio.

Which way is the wind blowing...???
Meaning, some batches I'll run 100% acceptance and the the next day, I'll have 60% or more rejected.. ??? And that's not just on DT, that's on others too.
Pix will be accepted by one site and rejected by another.  A pic will sell like crazy on one, and have low views on another.  Pix rejected by one for even technical reasons, will be accepted on another and sell well for me.  You have to take the rejections with a grain of salt.  It just isn't worth getting frazzled about.  I learned that the hard way.
If I receive a technical rejection, I will take the time to look at the picture and put myself in the reviewers shoes.  And many times, I can understand why they rejected it.  Other times,  I have no clue what they're talking about, I feel they are dead wrong.  If it is a tech problem I can adjust and resubmit, I do. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes, you can only wonder what bad drug the reviewer is on...  ;)  Other times, they are right on about the problem.
When it comes to   the old  "too many on site now"  or  "not commercial material"    I've learned to wait a short time and then resubmit the same picture.  Guess what...   it's accepted, suddenly, there aren't too many on the site and/or, it is commercial material.  soooooooo
It's a crazy business...   :)I end with my opening question....   "Which way is the wind blowing?"     8)  --tom

69.4% for me.

I'm so happy that I have just several of my rose series.  :)

They approved an image that had been rejected for the "too many" and I emailed them, maybe they changed their mind because they had approved its sister image that same day.

78.7%. but i stopped with uploads since i read new uploading rules (last batches uploaded i believe were some 95+ accepted).

62.8%

Although from the stats page my acceptance ratio for January was only 14% which I'm sure dosn't help the average!  :)

I did a 'catch up' in January, and uploaded some stuff I'd been sitting on because I wasn't sure it'd get accepted...  got really low acceptances on all of the sites.

This site drives me nuts. I have good sales but there rejection rate is about 70% in fact I just had 15 out of 15 rejected. The same pics on other sites were about 70% acceptance rate.

It must be just me, but I've found that DT will accept just about anything I throw at them - my acceptance ratio is 90% this month, 83% last month.

Now if only stuff sold there ...

Only been there for a month so I'm starting to learn what they accept and decline now.  ;)
It's a bit awkward though. They are for sure the most stingy when accepting files (out of DT, FT, StockXpert, and BigStock) but then again they have accepted files of mine that every other site has declined. So I just submit for . of it who knows.  :-\

My acceptance rate average at 72.7, but I think I've learned what they want now, and February so far has been 89.7. What I see is that my sales there are increasing. The February result passed January already before the 15th, and January was my record month before that. I've been there since April last year.

Yes, the review time is getting much longer at DT.  Files uploaded today have an estimated review time of 145 hours.  That's about the same as IS.

But sales at DT seem to be improving.

Post by: fintastique on March 07, 2007, 03:16
Looking back I have always been around the 50% acceptance rate here, I think other sites have improved whereas DT stayed the same

Fortunately they are growing to like my illustrations and with new credits an eps file with earn me $4 had my first the other day the only sign there actually is a new price structure in effect.

75%, except that I cancelled an upload of eight photos because I felt I could produce better quality, and it appears that my 'cancelled uploads' count as rejections..........
