I'm interested to know how DT review images, is it a panel of people that vote or are images assigned to individuals, are the reviewers pro's, student's etc.
I'm just curious as I had this photo refused at DT but accepted on BS, DT said it was rejected due to poor lighting conditions, any opinions on the lighting (looking to learn here)

There are usually in the neighbourhood of 30,000 pending images at any given time. There are no panels and no voting. I once asked support for the credentials of their reviewers so I could figure whether they had any idea what they're doing but I got no response.

Their reasons are a list of pre-written generic messages and they pick one. If they don't like the shadows in a shot because it was taken mid-day with bright sunlight coming straight down on the subject they may call it poor lighting set up.

The good news is there is no consistency so any other agency could look at it and think it's great. I just laugh now when some agencies accept shots others don't.

It's a little on the dark side. Brighten it up and resubmit. Something like this.

The shadows are hard and dark and the colors don't really sing - rocks are a bit muted and sky almost navy blue instead of a deep bright blue.  Big stock isn't all that picky as the agencies go, so getting it accepted there doesn't really indicate it'll fly with other agencies.

Post processing could probably have helped, but shooting at a different time of day would make the biggest difference

there's a lot of contrast between the upper part of the landscape and the brighter exposed rock below; there's ot as much contrast between the upper rock and the sky - some reviewers dont like that

for SS, i've found that lightening the image shadows & highlights, then increasing the saturation pops the green a bit more

To me, the sky looks fake. The mountains look great, with a little lightening, as already noted.

It's quite simple really.  The person who reviewed the image at DT was a woman and rejected it for poor lighting.  The person who reviewed the image at BS was a man and put the image through because it resembles a pair of boobs.

The male reviewer has been hanging out with some very strange women... :)

Hi Leighh, do you calibrate your monitor very often?  This may be the problem - your monitor may be too bright.

Thanks for all the replies, I have adjusted the image and re-submitted, ill let you know what happens, to be honest I have not calibrated my new monitor yet  ::) I do own a spyder pro so ill have a go.
I have another question, when saving in photoshop there is the option "Embed color profile" should I tick or not?

That's exactly my thought too. But Rimglow did a good job getting as much as one could probably get out of the image.
