This is weird.  I add descriptions to the IPTC in photoshop and have never had an issue with any of my descriptions at IS. 

Are you adding them on site or uploading them in your IPTC data?

I use iView and iStock seems to pick everything up correctly it's just a funny quirk iS has where a description is not allowed to contain any word twice. "Woman Wearing a Red Dress Sitting in a Red Car" would not be allowed, Although "Woman Wearing a Red Dress Sitting in a Car" is okay and probably wouldn't matter a diddly its just not as descriptive.

as a new contributor to micro, i have to agree with twieja.
IS and DT are consistent in their rejections. i have more or less a 90% inclination of whether the image will be accepted or not.
at times, i even feel it would be rejected, but i push it just to see...
and sure enough they get rejected by DT and IS 

their clear preference helps to maintain a increase in acceptance.
in just 3 months, i went from like sorrily 10% acceptance to 40 % acceptance because they really give you very clear reason what NOT to do.

I'm catching on to DT and have picked up my Acceptance rating there, but iS is much tougher.  In fact I never bother resubmitting to iS, and ony on occasion do I resubmit to DT.   When I do, DT usually picks it up the second time around.  So far they provide my best sales.
