Title: Found my images in 2 sites I dont recognize, are these connected to Dreamstime?
Post by: sweetgirll on October 10, 2015, 17:08
Hi guys,
I received a request from dreamstime to sell rights to an image I only have uploaded there.....but by doing a reverse image serach I saw the image in  two sites Im not a contributor to. however these seem connected to "dreamstime", they have a "powered by dreamstime" and  links go to the dreamstime page ....so I'm wondering if that is just a sort of referral type of site, so no worries there?

Yes, they are partners and or distributors. You can opt out if you wish - http://www.dreamstime.com/alliances (http://www.dreamstime.com/alliances)

All partnerships are required to follow the usage rights of our terms and conditions. Sales that occur on our own site award the royalties from the sale price. Some of these partnerships will award the regular 25-60% royalties to the contributor from the agency's share, while other alliances will still award them based on the sale price. This flexibility allows us to reward our partners for their considerable technical and marketing investments in presenting Dreamstime content to new markets, increasing images exposure and expanding the number of buyers. Remote third party prices are credit based and subscription downloads are not available on their websites. Extended licensing is available and updates are made in real time or in 24 hours maximum. Buyers referred by third parties channels who use our site to download images have access to all payment plans available at the purchase date (credit based, monthly subscription, referral program, extended licenses etc).

stockfreeimages is where your images are moved to if after 4 years they have no sales or if they are images that fail the review but meet some minimum requirements for the free section (if you click that box when you upload). Along with free images that site also features other images that when clicked on take you to the main DT site where you can buy them at DT prices. They like to say that free images increase one's portfolio exposure but I don't want that kind of exposure. All it does is increase the idea that stock imagery is, or should be dirt cheap. I won't give my images away for free but many do. After 4 years I delete my non-sellers. I know many disagree saying you never know when an image might sell but with so many images on the site it probably can't be found in a search anyway. I wish more people would delete loser images and help weed out the drek.

I keep my images on sale and occasionally they have it costs me nothing so why not? Though I do wonder why sites don't sometimes have a clean up as some dross no doubt has slipped through during the years.

Hi,
now that's interesting...I was already opted out of the alliances, just checked....
My images are on the sites, but they are not available through these sites, they are in a format that when you click to buy, it goes to the dreamstime page,

and on the stockfree images it shows the thumbnail but it says is only available on dreamstime....So I guess, if is all connected to dreamstime, I don't have to worry...
