With the recent change of a free image / day, as apposed to free image/week, I thought I would start this poll.

Do you think it is worth it to offer a free image from your portfolio. It would increase portfolio review.. so perhaps it is worth it. I just offered one free image to be used... I will see how it goes, or if it was worth it if it gets picked to be used.

I posted this in the Dreamtime forum on the 24-03-06

An interesting feature to sacrifice one of your photos so you can get your 15 minutes of fame (well 24 hours).

I submitted one of Edinburgh castle by night yesterday, I am just wondering how long is the queue for free photos days, weeks, months or years?

How does the selection process work all the great ones go into a queue to be displayed. Will contributors of not so great photos be notified by e-mail I presume those that made the cut do?

The reply was

"The image submitted now and accepted will be available in the beginning of June. The list is long, we are forced to be very selective so submit only a couple of shots and the ones that you think are good for that feature.

We are not informing users that were not selected, sorry, it would take too long. We will automate this queue, so all of you are notified....but it will take a while. "

I personally think if you have a lot of similar images its worth sacrificing one to give the others a chance so Leaf you still have probably another month to wait.

I have recently had a free image used at both dreamstime and istock. At both places I had really good sales around that time. At istock I have had a few designers add me to their creative network. What really surprised me was that on both sites the images carried on selling reasonably well. The first working day it came off at istock it sold 3 times after getting more than 17000 free downloads.
So to sum up, yes it is well worth putting one up .

Yeah it was me, thanx :-), I guess I was lucky :-) Yes it was a good week, when I had the Free Image of the week. A lot of reviews and 4 new people for the creative network. That week I might have got 50% more dls than normaly which is not to amazing, but lets see what happens, when that image isnt for free anymore..

Btw, the Free Image at DT is great for downloaders, and I'm one of them and keep checking the free images.
