As many know, DT recently removed the level-based, higher-commission downloads from the sub plans and also lowered prices. So higher level files no longer get higher royalties when purchased through subs. I don't know if anything will come of this but it was suggested in the DT forums that different commissions for different levels be given to contributors while the subscription prices remain the same. In other words buyers would pay the same new prices when using the subs packages but contributors would receive different commissions for different level images. Serban says that he is considering it. http://www.dreamstime.com/thread_32058 His comment hasn't received many follow-ups as it is buried a bit in the thread. I suggest adding some thoughts to the thread if you are a DT contributor to encourage him. Stay tuned

Serban saying he'll consider it is sort of like when a child asks for a pony and her dad says "we'll see".

As she gets older she learns that means, "don't hold your breath".

Or they'll drop the amount they pay us for lower level subs. TA DA! Higher level subs now pay you more than lower level subs!

The house always wins.

Well I just sold a maximum size file and received 35 cents.

As I see it, there is nothing more to fear - they can't bring us any lower.   Lately I've been thinking about leaving DT, SS and IS and just submitting to Alamy - ais it is now, I have the same images as RF on all of them.  I make an occasional sale on Alamy but  I have to believe their buyers will check other sites to see if they can get the same image cheaper elsewhere.

Wasn't that changed recently.  I just sold a Level 4 -Maximum for 35 cents.

PS: on the same day that it sold as an EL on Shutterstock for $28.

Only if they stand by the minimum as the lowest royalty so it is 35c and up.  There has to be some room there.  If buyers used to get by with a 25/day sub pack they have to be leaving more subs on the table now that they can get the same image that used to take 3 sub credits for 1...

I'm totally against a graduated royalty system unless it is with a base of where it currently is.  If implemented, it will more likely be a way to pay some contributors less.
