Hi all,

I started with stock over the last couple of weeks, and thus far I've loaded about 20 images, each to various sites, essentially learning the submission process for each of them. Having (finally) found my Dreamstime port as seen by purchasers, one of measurements I noticed was PORTFOLIO EXPOSURE and DATABASE EXPOSURE, both at 0%. Do these indicate no-one has viewed an image and none of my images have been found via search, respectively? No issues with that BTW, very early days for me.

I'm also curious as to why DT is advertising TIFF formats of my images, as I haven't uploaded any?

Thanks, Rob.

Hi Rob,

I can't recall the exact definition of the two, but basically PORTFOLIO EXPOSURE and DATABASE EXPOSURE are a percentage of how big your portfolio is versus the Dreamstime database. It has nothing to do with people viewing your images.

Also Dreamstime automatically create TIFF's of your image when you upload as an upsell possibility to clients.

Hope that helps!

Tim

Take a look at these (old) threads on DT's forums that define the two exposure stats. And I'd agree that they are largely meaningless as what will matter more is searches that are frequent and how your images rank for those searches.

It's not clear how much of the time buyers browse a portfolio versus search to find images, and even if they did, how having a portfolio that's large in relationship to the largest portfolio on the site would help.

The main thing to take away about DT is that they were once a solid #3 on the earnings list and they're now fading into the void, dropping lower down the rankings as the months go by.
