I upload to SS and FT and pics that get shot down there, sail right through on DT. Is that actually doing photographers a disservice, as these pictures will most likely not sell, or are they being smart, knowing that there may be a market for these photos?

I think they are being very smart. The algorithms will make files that donīt sell sink to the bottom very quickly, but at the same time every artist has a chance to grow their own personal niche.
Many images only sell in context with others from the same genre and a lot of customers are now looking for "authentic" content, i.e. files that look like they were taken by normal people.

I get a lot more rejected on DT than anywhere else.

Why are you spending time on pictures you don't think are good enough to sell?

no, definitely not.
it's not their std that is too relaxed;
it's their ability to get downloads.
as i said many times, dt pays me as much in a year, as i get in a week with ss.
relax??? not really... i think dt has gone comatose a long time ago.

That's interesting. Much the same with me except that at SS I make in one month what DT makes me in a year. :'(
I have seen minimal growth in 6 years with DT. I was peaking at $160 a month but they were successful at income redistribution and I dropped to $80 a month in only a month's time. Been down to $80 for the last 8 months or so.

Why are you spending time on pictures you don't think are good enough to sell?
I guess I'm of the mind that there's a hand for every glove, and that their editors have it the ok, then someone, somewhere would want the photo. I guess not...

Their reasons for rejection are different, for instance similar files or file they have too many of in the database. Pay attention to the rejection reason in the other sites, upload to them first, so it gives you a chance to fix any problems if you decide there are.
Keep in mind that the reasons stated by SS or FT are not necessarily the reasons why the images get rejected either, but sometimes they are.

No. They seem fair.
DT has picked up for me and is now about equal to SS. I have been having a lot more success getting images approved on SS that when I started... but the ones that now get approved there get rejected elsewhere more.
I think it depends on the buyer. Not everyone wants the style of images that one finds at this agency or that. I often sell images on one agency that another has rejected. Some rejection reasons just do not apply. I think it is important to learn how to have less noise, better exposures etc and approval/rejection is sometimes a tool for that. But at the same time, there is room for artistic look too. As an artist I really hate the overly bright images I see in stock photography. I like photographs that are darker and richer in color. Other than a few images that sell well everywhere, my best sellers are different with each agency.
