So either DT is changing their model release rules or starting to actually look at them when reviewing.

I have around 30+ images of a specific model accepted over the past few years I've been with DT. I used the standard DT model release also. Then just the other day one of three I submitted of that model were rejected for an incomplete MR - no explanation of what was missing. I figured it was a mistake so I resubmitted with a note only to have it rejected again twice for the same reason... I was baffled, so I contacted support and this is what I got back:

Please make sure the following field is properly filled: model's complete postal address (include country). If you have images accepted online with this MR please upload the correct copy and notify support together with the specific file IDs.

So...I guess the country needs to be on there now...How stupid is this? I really love DT, my best site, but sometimes they really get to me when it comes to this stuff. Sorry I just felt the need to complain.

It's ok.

They tell you what to fix and then you fix it.

They are helpful to straighten it out and you will be uploading more images in not time.

In the end it kind of makes sense to add the country of the model since they get releases from all over the world. It's a lot easier on their administrative side if they have all that information.

That happened to me too, and I re-submitted so I got double rejections which doesn't help my acceptance ratio at all either. Not sure if it was the country or if they wanted MY signature too.

It's nothing new. DT has been doing this ever since I joined them three years ago.

Agreed, nationality definitely helps them with the completeness of their records in case a dispute occurs, however, they ask for a lot of redundant information. Besides, people tend to mature, and people tend to relocate, so the use of that information is rather time bound.

All redundant bits of information about the models you use is already required when uploading a new model release. Dreamstime's explanation is, that all this information is required, because of their ingenious search options, which allows buyers to search for a specific number of models, ethnicities, and gender groups. I just wish they would make that an optional bit of information, because I found it extremely tedious to file the correct number of model releases and identify all persons in a group of 20 people dancing in a nightclub correctly. Let alone the DT reviewers know how to distinguish models by name.

In the past, I've had rejections for an incorrect gender - the default was male, and the model happened to be female, quite obvious from the photo. (DT did change that in the registration form for new models). I've also had rejections because the DT review team thought the models had a different Ethnicity than I filed with the release form. I've also had the MR for my son rejected. As a minor, my wife signed it as gardian / parent, but she doesn't use my sir-name, and my son does.  It's always a guess - a few rejections have been overturned by resubmitting the same file under the same model release, or by contacting support.

It's all a bit over-jealous, I think. But it's their prerogative.

@ pancaketom: Yes, they require your signature as well. Apparently , that requirement is legally unstable, as a MR isn't a contract.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with them requiring certain information - rules are rules. But it just annoys me that they never caught on until years after the fact - literally years. Not to mention a couple other releases I have filled out the same way which have never been a problem.

At least they accept a generic style release unlike IS who has more new rules about the MR making it a requirement to have every model sign more than one MR at every shoot.

And when they change their own rules/policies don't even give you a chance to update - they just deactivate half your portfolio!!

Actually all the agencies have this policy. It just depends on the inspector if they look close enough and take time to read everyones MR. Usually you look and make sure everything is filled out but it could be missed as everyones MR look differently.
