Below is a recent post from Tangie @ Dreamstime.  The keywords are kinda sloshed together but make more sense at the site if you hover your mouse over them, because each set is a hyperlink.  Might be pretty useful.

It would be nice to see more sites do this and hopefully it's not a one shot deal for DT.

"You will find below top searches that generated few or no results. The list includes keywords that were most searched for but returned very or no results at all in the recent weeks. Most are multiple-keyword searches, which means the image should be relevant for all keywords below.
This list can be used as guide to give you hints of what people were interested in and what subjects you might approach. In case you have such images online, you can edit the files and add missing keywords, IF the case. Please add the keywords only if relevant - do not spam!. You will also notice that there are some misspellings.
If you already have such images but have not uploaded them yet, you might consider uploading them now.

thanks for the heads up about the thread.  Nice that they produce lists like that.

Not sure how helpful the list really is. These are very specific searches in some cases. Example: "angle colorful game glass marbles toy" (under no results) but if you search for Glass Marbles you find hundreds of images already there.

I have one that doesn't show any results on most of the sites. I'm searching for it for a Jan. project. No you don't think I'm going to tell do you!  ;D

I like a bunch in the first list, 12 days Christmas and desk girl school stare should be promising ideas for the creative types here.

I have more than a few refused photos, that would fit some of these.  :-\

It is a good idea and nice way for any site to fill in spaces. Much better than the "we have too many" lists. I agree, all the agencies should have a monthly or weekly list like this. I'm sure there are enough motivated people with the skills to produce most of the photos, except maybe something that takes traveling to a location, which would take slightly longer.

I used to look at the request lists on the site forums, but they often had someone looking for and orange cone and people would send in orange flowers or navel oranges and say, does this work? OK maybe that's an exaggeration, but some really off the wall responses that missed the request by a mile.

Many of these are also typos. Khiwi, lighteffects, mediavel, humanparts, sanserif etc.
There are also a couple that seems to be just someone trying to find pics of hot girls: gstring, short skirts :)

It mostly shows that people need to learn how to search  ;)

Yes. I really can't understand why the agencies doesn't give any "shot lists" to photographers. They must have a clue what is lacking in their collections and what their clients are requesting. Right? RIGHT? (I'm afraid they don't have any idea, they are just rejecting flowers and sunsets...)

I think I might have even had a few of those rejected for "not quite what we are looking for" oh well.

I looked at what was available for some of those, and it doesn't look like they are very high selling searches even if the competition isn't too fierce.

Exactly lol... I find this a little useless

True, '3d landscape rendered terrain' turns up only 10 images. But '3d landscape rendered' turns up 17 pages of images of 3D renders of terrain. Maybe the people who have 3D landscape images just need to add 'terrain' to their keywords instead of creating and uploading new images?

That said, I love the way DT lists the keywords used to find an image with the other dl info. It is a very informative feature.

I often browse through the "latest searches" on dreamstime and check which of these have few hits. I have found a couple of niches that were almost empty. I also left a comment about this to the reviewer when I uploaded the pictures, and have not recieved any "not stockworthy"-rejections on these pictures, even though they are not the typical "smiling girl with headphones".

Nice moves gaja! You will get returns of this, I know I did for similar research. The best part is you don't start competing with anyone as they are almost empty subjects.

I disagree a bit.  A buyer doesn't need to know how to search.  I have always questioned the use of boolean operators in searches for that reason.  The search engine has to be as smart as possible to provide good results or propose an alternate search (like Google does).  This includes spelling (see "mediavel" as one search term in the list, in Google you get Did you mean: medieval).

There is some very useful stuff in there (and lots of crap too) showing gaps in the collection, "beavers" was a surprise I thought all those animal photos had been done to death by the wildlife togs, christmas is so-so-sooo well covered but "twelve days of christmas" is not? it's good stuff.

What is does show is like some others DT is failing to display results for a user if they search for something really strange "floors paths pavements". They should do something like ebay or amazon:

We didn't find results matching "floors paths pavements" but we did find results matching "floors paths pavements".
