Dreamstime is "cleaning up" their database again.  This time I got two rejected images that were submitted many years ago (which is not a new thing at Dreamstime, I know).
What is new is the reason :
Both images show the most innocent mother's day scenes, shot during different photo sessions, of a 5-year old girl giving flowers to her own mother and kissing her mother.

No, there is not even a HINT in the direction of lesbian kissing or pedofile behaviour AT ALL.
Oh, and both people in the pictures are fully dressed.

What the h...??
Are they doing a AI search on the word "kissing + child" ???  And since when is kissing inappropriate?

Dreamstime explanation :
We are sorry to inform you that due to changes in Internet regulations, we can no longer keep online certain types of images that can be considered inappropriate or that can be open to interpretation.
Unfortunately, your image fits one of these categories and had to be removed. As this is a time sensitive matter, the thumbnail has also been removed and is no longer available.
Thank you for your understanding.

At this point in time, I wouldn't worry about any images being taken off a microstock site for whatever reason, least of all dreamstime. The puny rewards you get for keeping images on a port just don't make it worth stressing about.

I'm not worried at all, at least not about my images or my income from Dreamstime.  I should rather worry about the state of mind of people who think it's necessary to delete a mother/daughter image because of a loving thank-you-kiss ...

I guess it's not a human action, but rather an automated action by a bot which suffers from sloppy programming, and was indeed triggered by your combination of keywords.

Obviously it's inappropriate in the modern world for children to care for, love or respect their parents?  ;D

Better answer but I thought mine was at least absurdly reflective. BAD AI, sounds like the real answer.

i understand paedophilia, but why . would you think lesbianism would break internet rule?  i guess systemic homophobia is a thing.

Yeah, AI and nuances... very often not a good combination.
The thing is, AI systems are only as good as the data you feed them, and it has been proven that AI systems inherit biases and prejudices of their human programmers and data sources.

homophobia is alive and well

Newly rejuvenated, the right wing is poised to make transphobia and homophobia cornerstones of the midterms and 2024 elections, with promises to deliver dont say gay legislation in states including Michigan and New York.

Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council, a conservative lobbying group, inveighed against the governors of Indiana and Utah for vetoing legislation banning trans women from participating in sports, calling the bills timely, mainstream protections. The Republican US representative Marjorie Taylor Greene vowed to introduce a federal dont say gay bill if Republicans win the House this November, only to one-up herself days later by tweeting that for people to be pro-trans is to be pro-pedophilia. The dynamic is one of perpetual ratcheting-up.

What began in Florida could spread nearly everywhere
...
People are running on insane nonsense, like trans people should face a firing squad, says Rhodes-Short, referring to to Robert Foster, a former Mississippi lawmaker and gubernatorial candidate who said that anyone advocating to put men pretending to be women in locker rooms and bathrooms with young women should receive the death penalty by firing squad

I have all kinds of images removed and really don't care anymore. Even high selling ones.

Can you believe it?  I just had another image deleted with a mother kissing her child.  This time a fully dressed African mother kissing her fully dressed toddler son.  OK, that is good to know :  next photo session I'll have every body wear a Covid face mask while they're kissing!  :P

And, y'know, then there are guns, which the right wing has no interest in addressing.
Land of the Free?
Home of the Brave, for sure.  :(

Did you write and ask a specific reason. I see that some people have guessed and jumped onto that bandwagon. I'd really wonder what the REAL reason was before attacking. ps DT is not an American company. Well maybe, the HQ is in the US but, it was started in Bucureşti, Romnia. (A large part of the daily operations are managed from Romania, even if the company is registered in the USA)

AI

"For each image we provide in the results list, we take into account the experience of previous users, the editors who inspect the images, and the author of that image. Last but not least, for about two years, the suite of criteria and selection methods we use in database management has given rise to an AI artificial intelligence engine called PhotoEYE.

If some places are removing kids in Halloween costumes for cultural appropriation, this whole revisionist agenda has become a bit nuts. "open to interpretation" is like wild eyed censorship for what someone might imagine, from an innocent image? If it's Internet Regulations, I wonder from where and who?

There's nothing wrong with a Mother kissing her Daughter.

To me this is one of great examples of all the nonsense AI brings.  Chances are this image was never seen by human being during initial acceptance, or this subsequent removal.

The AI is a human product. Reflecting sick dreams about more suitable world for its creator(s).
Who is creating and on which level - it can be a politician, an owner, manager, software architect, finally developer...
Alltogether can act as a criminal band.
And of course collateral damages. There is already enough reports mentioning forced biases and opinions.
Several weeks ago i removed one app where i posted sometimes. The reason? Suddenly ALL technical content
stopped to show up. I had to open myself accounts which i followed and verify that there were posts.
Instead of content to which i was subscribed or liked, the app started to bring only babies photos, children food, stitching,
promenades with families, happy pregnant bellies etc. Some cinema content was kept (they found it neutral for this soup?)
Ok you understood? They just wanted to show which subjects i must receive because of gender and age.
I find my content without this app. They can keep amateurs of prefiltered content.
