I don't do the social media thing and don't really understand all of this, but it was just announced by a DT admin - you can read it for yourself at http://www.dreamstime.com/thread_38526

We've told you we were restless so, here's good news again. We're talking about two functions that will give birth to new opportunities.

We're talking about a new personalization feature going on Big Data in order to deliver the most relevant information and a new social media function designed to give a boost to images shared in social media.

The new personalization feature is called Designers Also Selected These Stock Photos and utilizes algorithms that analyze data coming from the consumers themselves - past purchases, demographic information, browsing history - and then uses the wisdom of the gathered data to suggest the best products to customers based on personal preferences and interests. This allows users to view similar products based on the current items being viewed in their shopping cart.

Basically, they allow future customers to check out the images that other people are buying.
Far beyond visual search, better than meta data search.

The social media function was created to help give a further boost to the images that are shared. Dreamstime is in fact the first stock agency to factor social media into algorithms, helping to further improve search. The images that end up being shared in social media accounts by various designers, photographers and other users can return a wealth of data. It is a way of helping others to easily find stock images.

Rest assured that this is only an additional tool in order for your images to be shared and discussed about on different online social platform (Facebook, Google Plus, LinkedIn, Twitter etc.). Also, spamming issues are out of the question.

We hope you understand the opportunities and if you have any questions, we are here to answer to them all :)

Also, we're looking forward to your feedback. So take a look, test them and let's talk about them.

Cheers!

I was hoping they introduced batch editing/submitting.

But then again, it's only 2014. Maybe in 10 years.

It's probably very hard to find, but I'm confident that somewhere in that social/marketing/buzzword soup is something that translates as "free images" or "reduced royalties".  Because it's always there, in any contributor announcement, from any microstock agency.

My head hurts from reading that stuff.  Big points to whoever finds it first!

I hope this means more sakes and money to contributors.  If theres a pay cut in there I don't see it.

That always means something for THEM is improving and THEY are going to make more money. And for the contributor, it means existing functionality is going to be messed up or contributors are going to be losing money.  ::)

I hope it drives sales - DT needs to do something tout de suite to stay in the top 4 for me.

What amuses me is the way they talk about it as if they invented it. And this goes for all agencies who, despite the fact some contributors think of them as virtual online art galleries for the discerning buyer are nothing more than bang 'em out retailers - and being shopkeepers should have taken their cue from Amazon and others years ago to enhance the contributor/customer experience.

Totally agree.  Also, SS is the only one who's introduced new "revenue schemes" that have actually paid off for contributors but I cannot think of another time when an agency made a claim that "with this change where we've cut your commission you will see an increase in number of downloads which should actually earn you more money." These excuses are all used up and have PROVEN that they are mostly gibberish.

Same here, only reason I am not submitting to Dreamstime
