Today, I sold an image (Level 1 and medium-sized) and only received 0.70 $. Instead of 1.00 $ as usually. The price for the image was 2 credits (2007 credits).

Is there a new earnings schedule active at Dreamstime? Or any other explanation?

The new schedule has not been introduced yet, but it will be "sometime after the middle of July".

It was likely credits purchased in 2007 but before the price increase.

Or it's probably an alliance sale.

Just checked some of my files, is it just me or are there only 2 sizes available: web and print. And print one costs only 2 credits even though it's biggest size!

Ah, found an answer:
Quote
There are more options now then web and print. If you have credits in your account they are probably very old and that is why you only see two options.
You can either convert earnings or buy new credits to access the new pricing system.
On the about our images page you will be able to see all the details about it, as well as on sell your images page.

Excellent news!  DT is the most consistent site for me.  Sales continue to go up although I haven't uploaded in several weeks.  In the same time frame, SS sales have dropped to pitiful levels because I haven't uploaded.  IS is horribly slow.

Although I said I'd never go exclusive, I'm considering doing it with DT.

the only benefit is when reaching level two... and that leaves the risk of the customers switching to subscription packages.

I brought up the same concern on the DT forum thread, and Achilles replied.  He's probably right...I see Mandy (Godfer) just sold a Level 4 medium for 9 credits.    :)

With credits being now more expensive than subscriptions, some buyers might switch. That's in fact one of the main reasons why subscriptions exist on Dreamstime: to allow buyers to adapt through price increases. The difference gained credit-based should make it up considerable for the difference. After 2.5 years of having subscriptions online, we no longer target a low percentage of one's portfolio. What we target is a bigger check at payout. We do these with both plans.

If a parameter starts to give bad results for a large part of the contributors is reasonable to think we will take measures. Same applies with any update, even on buyers' side. Take into account that we judge things at site level, for both buyers and contributors, your mileage may vary.

Subscription commissions have gone up to 35 cents, so that is a nice improvement.

Not all of the changes have worked through the system.  For instance I had an exclusive sub sale today at $0.36.  But it seems most images are enjoying their new levels.

I just had a Level 2 exclusive large sell for $3.60, and earlier today a Level 2 small sold for $1.67.  A small image for $1.67 absolutely rocks.  This seems to be in line by what most people are seeing on the message boards.  I'm elated with these new levels.

I got 3.20$ for an xs  :) :) :)
Makes the 20c or even less that you get at IS for an XS seem pretty pathetic.

I am more and more inclined to stick with DT, IS, SS and Alamy only.

Would anyone like to translate this into plain English?

I also did not understand the logic in this.  I think he might have meant that buyers may start with a subs package (because prices are so attractive) and as they understand the price structure more they would migrate to credits.

Of course this doesn't make any sense moneywise, especially when they increase credit prices (also with the new levels) and keep subs prices the same.  It only pushes buyers to subs, IMHO - which is what was stated in the original post of that thread.

I think what he means is that subs are cheaper than credits and are specifically geared for  the price-conscious customer.  However, don't worry, because overall sales should increase. Dreamstime loves you and will protect you like your own mother.

I have updated the DT page in my microstock guide including the new pricing structure.

Prior to December 2007 an image needed 25 DLs to achieve level 2 status now it only needs 5 downloads and will sell for more credits than before which favours fresh images and unfortunately subscription downloads of very popular images .  >:(

Dreamstime

The eps price has changed to now its double the price of the largest JPG

so if you uploaded a 9mp version you could earn $5 for the eps file but if you only uploaded a 4 mp version your eps will earn you only $3  :(

I sold an extra small Level 3 yesterday for $2.76 commission.   8)

This morning my earnings at IS ticked up 18 cents, for what was apparently an XS sale.  Oh boy.   :-\

I normally get US$0.50-1.00 for an image, even for level 3 ones, rarely US$1.50 or US$2.00 (got one yesterday).

Although subs sales are not the norm for me (gladly), often the ones I get are for the level 3 images.  :(

I got US$1.79 for 4 credits today.  Normally it would be US$2.00.  :(

Let me see.  Credits are now 0.83 to 1.00, and we get 50% of that, so never more than the 50c/credit we did before.  The only improvement we may have in earnings then is the higher levels.

Do you think one thing compensate the other with advantage to us?

Yeah but you are forgeting that they introduced the Extra small size which means you got 4 credits for what used to be a 3 credit image before.

Mine is doing really well, too.  If this keeps up, DT could very well surpass IS as my #2 site.

And I'm sure glad this increase is happening now, what with SS taking a serious dive this month.  I've never seen a drop so bad at SS.

Yes, I had forgotten about that.  My RPD is not showing much improvement though, as subs sales increased.  :(
