Title: Newbie with First Sale!
Post by: fieldsphotos on October 04, 2007, 11:44
Yay!  I got my very first sale off of Dreamstime yesterday!

I am new to the forum and thought I would jump in and say "hi" with my (admittedly tiny) bit of good news.   This is actually my very first photo sale period.  I am just getting started with microstock; I am currently accepted with istock and dreamstime.  I am about to throw my hat in with shutterstock once I get my 10 ready and vetted in the critique forum.

Just hoping to work up to the level of some of the great folks here!

Yes - it does feel pretty cool.  It has definitely got me out shooting more - which is what it is all about, right?

congrats on the sale - you have some nice clean images.

and to what this is all about??
yeah, i suppose for some it is to get out and shoot more, others to make a living, others to make a little spending cash, and others just to make the macro guys angry :)

Congratulations on the first sale - I really like that origami Swan. I see you have a 40D (I have a 20D and D60) so you have the wherewithal to make some lovely shots.

Shutterstock is a great moneymaker, so do try to get uploading there too. If you haven't thought about Fotolia, I'd recommend that as well (last month they were #2 for me, behind SS, IS was #3.

The next few months are the busy time of the year, so upload all you can now to take advantage of that. And if you like to do seasonal shots - i.e. Christmas - upload those ASAP. It can get you off to a nice running start if you pick up some sales volume while things are humming :)
