It's have way through the month and my sales on DT are a nightmare! Anyone else having similar nightmares? Watch as soon as I post this there will be folks saying -"Best month ever Dude!" ???
-
Yes, very bad month here too, 50% of my usual sales…
But I have noticed that my sales are always more during the second half of the month…
(Let's say like that… hope is the last to die :D)
-
It seems about normal, although it is the summer. So, there isn't any limit to how terrible things can go.
-
We're halfway through the month and my sales are 38% of last July's (versus 50% or better). The RPD number is higher than July 2013 (no ELs thus far so I think it's just more level 5 images and a different balance of subs vs. credit downloads) but downloads (so far) are only 21% of last July's
Summer is slow every year; Dreamstime is going worse than 123rf though, which is at about 51% of $$ and 65% of downloads for last July
-
I am significantly down too, like last month. About 40%down compared to my annual average.
-
Not just me then? Guess that's some consolation.
Down by ¾ compared to June and off 80% from last July. Other sites are down, but nothing like this collapse.
-
I've dropped off the map in the last couple of months. This month (as of the 15th) I'm at 62% of half of my July 2013 sales, and at 55% of the sales... My last 45 days don't add up to July 2013! I've always felt like I was ahead of the curve on Dreamstime, but I guess I've finally reverted to the mean...

Same here. I think I was at $260 in May, then $175 in June and am at $70 now.

DT and 123 have really fallen off, while FT and BS have both been rising, especially FT.
-
Numbers of sales seem about normal for me, they always fluctuate from day to day, but I was very disappointed to get a sale for 12 cents recently.
I honestly didn't know they paid so low.
Guess I should read the small print sometimes.

My year-over-year sales were slipping at SS, CanStockPhoto, and DT for the last few months but FT and 123 were up. This month they are all in free fall (even though I have been submitting new images). It's not just the summer slump. It's worse than that. :-[
-
Last month was the worst since Oct 10 for DLs and $ and the worst ever RPI, this month ordinary level bad. April though was a BME and pushed SS for earnings.
123 has been surprisingly good - #2 last month
-
TOTAL DISASTER.
Half of the month is passed and earnings are whopping low 8.34% of the average month.
RPD is also record low 44% of average RPD!!!
This is the biggest drop of revenue of all agencies of all the time.
Cant believe whats going on. Seams that only subscription buyers are on the boat now. :o

I might change the subject title to 'Nightmare on Elm Street' instead of 'Nightmare on Dreamstime'... :-\

This is the key. Dt must really be pushing hard in this area. I look for a change in policy coming soon, where subs are kept at a base and you don't earn more based on more downloads.
-
DT never has been a big seller for me, but thoses days I got no sales at all ! They should lower the minimum payment request ... . I'll have to wait for a while to get a 100$ payment
-
I look back in time.
I have earned more in 2006. in my 3rd month when I sign up there when my port had only 62 images... Only in first two months I earned less than whats happening now in 2014. with more than 1700 in port...
:o

This thread made me examine my stats more closely, and it seems you're right. The drop is much stronger than any "summer slowdown" I've experienced. According to Stockperformer, the stats are currently down with -12% (end of month prognosis).
-
Although it's been 5 years since my best month there, on track to have my best month at DT in two years.

I knew it was only a matter of time before someone would say 'I am making a killing this month!' 8)
-
Not a killing, just better than average. Last 2 years flat, so it doesn't take much to beat it. It's usually my #2 or #3 and this month no different.
-
I am seeing the same thing also, but mine did not start in July. Dreamtime got very slow a couple months ago and getting worse since.
Same here... this is not summer slowdown.. I have 7+ yrs experience with them as an exclusive contributor. Everything was great till last December & from the beginning of 2014 it is getting worse.
I was earning 1000$+ per month on past 5yrs and in 2014 I still couldn't reach even 800$ in a month.

Da-mn.
I just forgot to put my vertical flip glasses on. Now graph looks much more desirable. Jeahhh, Ill kick ass this month...
-
Could it be that buyers have used up their credit packs and sub packs and are now moving to the Dollar Photo Club? I guess when Fotolia starts to move up on the Poll we have our answer.
-
DT FT DP 123RF Zoonar YAY are always the WME! :-\
I don't know why I bother uploading to them even Bigstock do better and they have a lower payout threshold which is nice :D
-
last month was my worst for years on DT, down to just under one third of my BME. This month looks as if it will be the same as last. My graph makes Sulio's (non-inverted) one look almost desirable.
-
June was about 60% of my average month, but July looks to be an average month, assuming the last half of the month is on par with the first. Aside from nice jumps in Nov '13 and May '14, overall sales and revenue there are on a slight but noticeable downward trajectory. Still seeing subscription sales of my Level 4 and 5 images, but also getting some good credit sales. A payout a couple weeks ago showed up in my account very quickly so that's a good sign. DT is actually a tad higher than SS this month however SS is significantly down. Alamy actually has them both beat, and I did not have any huge sales there, so just figuring it''s the summer slump.
Anyone know what happened to that new thing they were trying out with our chosen images? No unusual income there yet (I let them use my handful of "chosen" files figuring it was worth a shot).
-
I told my landlord (mean lady) I wont be able to pay the rent this month due to DT - she told me to find a real job! :-\
-
DT is doing Just OK. FT is dead in the water as compared to a few years ago, SS is falling apart. The entire business of Micro is coming to a close for lots of folks that did rather well for years.
If your doing well. Count your lucky stars my friends. I, like many others got lazy who had good careers. Im chasing old clients now and in my town [Hollywood] doing actor head shots is Huge. Guess I gotta do them......Again. UGH. God I hate doing them, goes back 30 years.
-
Same here, going back to client work exclusively. I used to make more money from Stock than client work but the reverse is true now.
Micro is going through its next faze, agencies squeezing as much profit as they can with sneaky royalty reductions and poor quality work saturating the libraries is making Stock income very unstable these last couple of years. Not that I'm complaining I've had a good run and made some excellent money from it over the years. But its time to move on now, I know a burst bubble when I see it.

Your right. I was asked to shoot a wedding soon and turned them down. I hate to shoot weddings. Now I think maybe I should reconsider. Haven't done one in 5 years or so. Probably I won't be any good at it anymore.
-
DT have been in 5th place for most of 2014 but still showing slight year on year growth. Largely because (IMO) my port is 50% smaller there, thanks to their pompous, ill considered and unfathomable "similars" policy.
Thankfully, despite the claims that microstock is dead, sales are very robust in the rest of the top and middle tier.
-
Steady decline. Although I've been getting some nice credit sales lately. Haven't been uploading much to microstock this past six months and my portfolio on DT has been gaining in higher value.
-
For me it is just a drop in volume - looking back at 2013 I had 9:31 versus 8:32 credit:subs sales, looking at a random 40 sales around the same date. My feeling is that DT had a bit of a niche, with bloggers, and the whole Getty thing sucked the market dry. Way to go Getty! Take a group of buyers and suck them out of the pool, since they weren't buying from Getty anyways...

I don't like them either... but when your nephew asks if he can fly you to Mexico to shoot his... I just had to agree to one last wedding in 2015 :)
DT is selling lots of subs this month, or is it just me? Wish they were still tiered.

Very good point. When I try to think of reasons for the current across-the-board decline in sales which I am experiencing, I sometimes forget about the Getty giveaway. I know for a fact that over the years a lot of my sales were to bloggers. No doubt that Getty has cut deeply that source of revenue.
It is just one more reason for me to wonder why so many stockers are still doing business with iStock/Getty. I stopped submitting to them long ago and removed almost all of my portfolio when it became clear that they were not acting in good faith. If we had all done that, how much better off we would be now :'(

They aren't selling a lot of anything for me.
But I understand why its good to shoot a wedding with free holiday in Mexico included. I would say yes too! Have fun!

Though the year's trajectory looks down, I'm actually up about 10% for the year over 2013. Q1 2014 is about 9% higher than Q1 2013 and Q2 2014 is about 11% higher than Q2 2013. RPD is pretty steady.
We can't blame them for the Getty give-away. I also found a lot of my DT photos used on blogs over the years, particularly editorial and travel images, so I'd guess that is hurting sales for me too. Abstracts/backgrounds sell well for me there and that is helping my port sell steadily, though editorial and travel are still selling but not as well as before. I've actually mostly only been adding backgrounds to my port there and on the other micros the past year, so that is probably what has saved my DT income.
-
DT this month is a total joke...what happened thre?
-
Are they still business? This is worst month I've seen in over 3 years!
-
I'm in the club of misfortunes too. DT sales this month upto now, are way below the average of July 2013.
-
other agencies bounced back after the world cup, but dreamstime is still running on empty
-
Could it be that the whole world is in a slow down despite what the stock markets say? This money printing, QE forever, seems to be pumping up stock markets but not stock art sales.

I would agree expect that I am 31% higher this month than compared to last year thus only DT is the one being a lazy dog in the heat of summer on me :-\

Does that take into account the percentage of new images you have uploaded for the year? What number of images do you have online?
-
My balance has been the same for WEEKS. Waste of time.
-
Dreamstime is sadly dead in the water, haven't had a sale in over a week, that has never happened since 2009 !
-
I keep waking up each day hoping this 'Nightmare' will go away but it keeps continuing! I feel like the movie 'Ground Hog Day' where each day is the same- stuck in a continuing loop! :-\
-
Not a big earner for me but this year is up good over 2013, and 2013 was much better than 2012
Dennis
-
It's kind of meaningless when someone says best month ever or best year ever. Unless we know what sort of photos you're producing, where you're selling, how long you've been selling and how big your port is, BME is meaningless. Show us some graphs and stats. If a person with 40 photos uploads a winner (by accident) then their results are going to spike upwards. A person with 5000+ images and a ten year track record has a more balanced indication of how the stock industry is doing.
-
I think a clear statement is simply how much are you up or down from last July with Dreamstime? If you're up than it's a normal trend. You have more in your portfolio so consequently you're making more money. If you're down, no matter what your portfolio is comprised of, there's a serious problem. In my case I'm way down.
-
Down 20% in sales and revenue compared to last month, about 25% down compared to July2013.
RPD slightly below normal level ($1.31)
That said, everything is as I expected it to be after a steady downward trend for 12 months.

I gave you a plus for your removal of 4800 images from FOTOLIA's DPC. Excellent move.

you really can't expect not to have nightmares with dreamstime ;D
oh, bad pun! 8)

Wow- The drought of weeks of no sales has broken. I have made a dollar. Yipeeeee

well, the month is almost over and I am screwed! I can understand if all my companies tanked for July but some had BME thus only DT sucked...

55% down from July 2013.... :-\
-
downloads are 56% down from July 2013 and money 40% down. The month isn't over, but I've just been seeing one or two sales each weekday this month, which means effectively it doesn't matter unless there's a few ELs in the next couple of days.
The dropping download numbers are bothersome in that it suggests customers are moving elsewhere (obviously it could mean that it's just my files that no longer sell). By comparison, SS's downloads are roughly the same this as July 2013 ($$ are lower because of fewer ELs and SODs) and 123rf's are up 30% so it's not an overall fall across the board.
-
Actually July turned out to be average after an appalling June

Looks like the credit ranking download is not good business strategies in the long run, is stuck in the months same performance... when I spoke with admin...how to increase sales?...the answer was they don't know what sales (random)... but also told them the reviewers are too picky and increasing the portfolio is a freak problem... in resume...not good air in there. >:(

i think they threw themselves a curved ball with similars and the dude coming in here cocky n all, did not help the PR. although i have to credit the Support (Carmen, Eric,etc...) were all fast in response 2 ur PMs.
blamed 4 many things, as Jo Ann said, Can Stock and DT , wonder boys... it is still sad
because we need some viable alternative.
well, i haven't tried Envato, Lee Torrens' recommended Canvas, Flickr, 500px,ImageBref ...
which one shall i pick? recommendations? i could reopen my Alamy,
but i heard tell they went low-pricing too, didn't they?
off topic i know, but dreamstime is noddy-nod, so hijack this thread ;D
goofy, i buy da beer when i get something good out of the above new sites !!!

Just joining in and giving my 2cents:
WME since 2006 on DT. Sales down by 75% compared to july 2013.
Very strange situation ...
-
I was still $50 less than average and that may not seem like much, but when you only make a couple of hundred a month there $50 is a helluva lot percentage wise.
-
and I've made a whopping $.35 this month to continue this NIGHTMARE!

DT actually beat SS for me this month. One less sale than June but RPD up 70% and earnings up 60% (Spoiler alert: SS did poorly for me this month so DT wasn't great though it was even with last July and better than expected for a summer month).
I'm wondering if subs were a bad idea all around both for DT as well as for us. Alamy licensed two of my photos to the DK Eyewitness Guide to New England 2014 and in looking through the credits I noticed that along with Corbis, Getty, and the usual traditional outlets, DT was the only micro site they used. It would be interesting to know if they're still paying with credits or, given the vast number of photos they must purchase, if they've changed to subs there. Here's the credits page in case anyone has a photo in there: http://tinyurl.com/p5nxpee (http://tinyurl.com/p5nxpee)
(You can see one of mine on p.172 - full page. I only have it on Alamy and a few small trads in Europe, so I made a decent amount, though less than half of what I would have gotten for a full page photo a few years back).
