I just received an email from DT with the following text:

"Your request for payment has been refused and all earnings reverted back to your account.

Payments via MoneyBookers are temporarily disabled. Please use our alternate payment methods to post your payment request or wait until the Moneybookers' option is re-enabled."

Have any of you received this mail? I've mailed back to DT asking how long the problem will last.

I cached out via MB 7 days ago. Worked OK.

This is not a first time they disable MB. Users were complaining on their forum, and they turned it back ON.

In my country MB is only option to receive money (paypal does not work).

I am also close to my first payment. I hope MB problem will be fixed soon, because there is no other option for me.

Where is the problem!?

Why DT trying to close MB option?

I hope that is temporarily and only technical problem in money transfer between them.

I don't think they are trying to close MB (maybe with their upgrades this week they were having problems with MB requests?):  this is what they posted yesterday:

September 4, 2008 (04:13)
MoneyBookers payment option has been temporarily disabled. Please use our alternative payment methods until MB payment is re-enabled. Thank you for understanding.

yes, i am banned from the forum out there - i wrote the truth, but dt is keeping their "interesting" forum moderation policy (silly, if i can say). - unfortunately pay pall is not an option in my country. when i try to cash checks - i have to wait a minimum of 30 days - when check arrives to my adress. and bank fees are not acceptable. -so i wrote that i'll have to delete my images, and i already stopped to upload images - because of 6 months rule there.
but i have to admit, that i believe that dt is having really big problems using mb service (already posted by achiles on the dt forum). some my friends rally had a problems with mb - and support is really a "snail speed".
the main thing that is really making me nervous is that dt is acting like they have images, - and forget one - the main important thing - that they sell our images - we (agency, and contributors) are all making money on  our images, not on agency's services. - similar thing that happened recently on StockXpert.
anyhow - that atittude ( "no we would not have mb option, if you did not need one" ....   really? -shows what that agency think about us - contributors - that we are a bunch of idiots - which is not o.k.
but, an the other hand - as i already said - i can understand all this , and of course, i hope that things are going to be solved on a good way for all of us (that we in non-pay-pall countries are going to have mb option avialable soon.

Great news.  Although I'm still a bit far from my next pay-out, seeing another problem between MB and DT was annoying.

Now, why does only DT have problems with MB?

No, unfortunately with the data we have so far we can't say this. We have been in a permanent back and forth between banks and MB, with various reasons given. We were hasty to bring you the answer we received previously, because the reason given was not the real one.

We know that many users prefer them to the other payment methods. Our staff is doing its best to solve this in the best and fastest way.

Until new data will arrive, this thread will be closed.
Thank you for your patience.

I have had enough! I am going to open an account with PayPal. I would like to know, why DT prefer PayPal so much. I have never seen PayPal disabled there but I clearly remember MB being down several times - always when I need to send there my money.

E.g. I must pay a fee for incoming payments too at PayPal. I do not pay for incoming money at MB.

There is no news in the MoneyBookers case. We have two options of solving the issue at this moment. If one of the solutions offered can be applied, the MoneyBookers will be back online by the end of this week.

When we have more info on this, we will re-open the old thread and post news. Please be patient as we are confident this will be solved.

E.g. I must pay a fee for incoming payments too at PayPal. I do not pay for incoming money at MB.

A free PayPal personal account can receive up to $500 a month, no fees of any sort, costs nothing to open, nothing to pay for incoming payments. The only catch is the money must be coming from another PayPal account. Of course you have to have a bank account in order to transfer the money to yourself. No fees for withdrawal of funds either.

I receive payments from a magazine in a different country via PayPal, because if I get a check they take a long time to clear. One bank teller said, "we don't take those." but she was wrong.

Check out the free Personal PayPal account options if it comes down to being forced to be paid that way to get your money.

The fee for a money transfer for a PayPal business account is 30c per transaction and 2.9%. That means if you get $100 from DT it will cost you $3.10 cents. Hope that doesn't break the bank?  ??? (thanks for the correction peep)

Yes, different countries may have different programs. But 26% as in the message below. No wonder people don't want to use PayPal in some other countries!

Moneybookers might have transfer limits or maybe the fees have to be in the account, before DT can pay you. If cash flow is a problem, DT can't pay money it doesn't have. You take it from there, what that means.

You may have different conditions in your country, but I DID have to pay for incoming money:

Amount received:  50.00 CZK
Fee:  -12.70 CZK
Total  37.30 CZK
Date: Sep. 3, 2008
Time: 13:41:05 CEST
Status:  Completed

I just wanted to test my new paypal account and made a friend send me some small amount of money. As you can see, they charged a (not so small) fee.

And BTW - if they take 30 c and 2,8% out of 100 USD the fee will be 3,10 USD and not 60 c IMHO.

Being a math genius (not yesterday however), I dropped a zero off the percentage fee. Thanks for improving on that.  ::)

As for the other comment. The subject is No Moneybookers, but the discussion was other options and why PayPal wasn't one of them.

PayPal PERSONAL accounts get charged no fees when you get money from another PayPal account. If you have a "Business" account you pay the 30c and the 2.8%, most people don't recognize that there is such a thing as a personal account, and PayPal doesn't make a big point of showing you that they are available. So when they sign up, they click business and get charged the fees.

True overseas accounts may have totally different regulations.

Hopefully the problem with DT is just software related.

Just a guess, but you are overseas? PayPal is US based and charging that extremely high fee because of your location.

I'm understanding better why people want Moneybookers back as an option.  ;D

You are right! So THIS is the reason. I am from the Czech Republic - Europe! So this is why I had to pay for the transaction so much? And how much would I pay for a few hundred dollars from DT?

Way too much!  ;D

Now I understand why I've read many messages about people who want to use MoneyBookers, and why they don't want to give away such a big percentage to someone else. I don't even know if MB is available in the US, but since I have a fee free PP account, it's not an issue.

Thanks for the education about the rest of the world.

Looks like the problem is with MB not the stock sites.

In case you don't follow Crestock threads, Josh left a very detailed message about Moneybookers and I thought it would be good to note here in the Dreamstime thread as they have surely been affected by the same type of delays:

Khwi

I've talked to my collegue Lars, the guy in charge for payouts. Here's what he had to say about the Moneybookers issue:

Quote
Moneybookers is extremely strict in their security rules as well as money laundering rules, which affects us by making the upload of funds to our payout a very cumbersome, and sometimes unpredictable process. The basic problem is that Moneybookers has imposed a limit on how much money we are allowed to upload to our account per month, which means we can't just upload a big lump sum once a year and do our payouts from that. Due to various security measures, both on part of Moneybookers and the credit card we use to fund the account, this is a very tricky manouver to coordinate (several people must be involved).

In addition to this, Moneybookers seems to like slapping new requirements on us every now and then. The latest here is that they suddently decided to block the function for sending money from our account until we send them a hole slew of documentation about the company, presumably another part of their money laundering protection. So, simply put, while we gather the required documentation for submission and approval by Moneybookers, we are blocked from sending money through from our account. While I'm hopefull we'll be able to finish this whole process in not too many days, I can't give you any guarantees on when exactly the pending payouts will be processed, the only guarantee I can give you right now is that you will get your money.

I'm terribly sorry about all of this, I hate not being able to process these payouts immediatly. I'm trying to find ways to make the Moneybookers process more streamlined, so hopefully, this might become a more expedient process in the future.

Lastly, let me make this clear: The cause for the delays in Moneybookers payouts is not in any way due to a lack of money on our part. Anyone who get their payouts by PayPal will confirm that our payouts are processed quickly an regularly. From what I hear, we take care of our payouts more frequently than our competitors do.

Best regards

Lars

Hope Lars' explanation answers your question and thanks again for getting in contact with us about this.

Pixart,

Good to know.  I believed MB, not DT, was responsible for the delays.  They have stated before their need to comply with UK rules of money laundry prevention, and possibly Paypal as a USA-based company is not subject to the same rules.  It would be interesting to know from someone with a UK Paypal account if they require the same kind of documentation MB requested from us (as far as I can remember, proof of residence with full address and not PO Box, CC and bank account verification).

Regards,
Adelaide

MB is supposedly working again at DT what is the wait between requesting and receiving your payment?

I personally found that MB had a better exchange rate than PP for dollars-> pounds and the money reached my bank account faster when requested

that left us with little choice for us from countries that cant use PP.
not sure if i should just request for a cheque for the next payout.

I got an e-mail from PayPal last week that said something about adding more countries - "Just click here to find out more".  I never clicked, part of me thought it was a spoof to capture my info (and I don't need any more countries :) ).  I think it was likely a legit e-mail from PayPal though, so maybe check their site yourself again.
