Title: RPD and income in the last 6 months
Post by: Xalanx on November 10, 2009, 08:30
I'm trying to have some clue with this statistic, because for me it's going down. Especially RPD.

Mine is about staying the same.

The last four months are

1.21
1.08
1.12
1.13
1.28

My overall average is 1.17  with highest ever last month at $1.28, before that $1.21 last November and June

Here is a link to your stats page

yea I think everybody knows where the stats page is, othewise they wouldn't vote.

My average RPD is 1.01 but in the last months is falling below $1.00. This month so far is a shocking $0.64, I must have been doing "a sale is a sale" stuff, if you know what I mean. My highest RPD was $1.32, way back in May.

Been with DT for about 1 year and 9 months with 500 photos/graphics online. Their latest changes are not good for new contributors. DT used to be a solid 2nd and has fallen to 4th place. Very disappointing. :-[
RPD last 6 months:
$1.13
$1.12
$1.09
$0.89
$0.88
$0.93

Avg. $1.09

Last 4 months:
0,92
1,05
0,97
0,75
avg: 1,04

Only doing stock for a year, other sites are doing very well for me, DT just never started. (1 month SS or iS income =  far more than 1 year DT income!)

Last 4 months:
1.61
1.24
1.15
1.84 (so far)
Best: 1.80

Around 500 images online. My stats still fluctuate a lot so they are not too reliable.

I don't see a choice of "about the same".  Can't respond to this poll because nothing fits.

I kind of felt the same. My income was going steadily up through June, then was way down from July to September. Now, it seems to be back to June levels. RPD is up and down, but usually somewhere above $1.

Last 6 months plus this month:

$1.56
$1.38
$1.22
$1.34
$1.03
$0.98
$1.48

This month is so high only due to a (VERY RARE) EL sale.

lisafx & cthoman - there's this new option you asked for.
However, the general trend is already profiled. Funny thing, I didn't see the poll on the right of the page, with the "big 6" showing only DT going down the others going up. Kinda my situation, except DT is in the last place, after StockXpert and 123RF (!) this month.

I have more downloads now with less return than when I started. My RPD for the past 6 months is a $1.70.

Best,

RPD at DT
2009 June  1.60 (BME for RPD)
2009 July   1.20
2009 Aug     .89

2009 Oct      .86 (BME for #of sales but well off BME for Revenue)

RPD = rate per download ?

Surely the minimum stat which counts is rate per image online - ie an average rate for all of the images in a portfolio including those which do not sell.

And from a business accounting POV you might expand that to rate per image uploaded - ie also including rejected images. The cost of your rejected images is a legitimate business expense.

I do not see how RPD reflects the amount of labor which someone is putting in to a portfolio. Unless I am misunderstanding RPD.

I could be wrong, but I think the reason that RPD is being considered here is because there was recently a commission cut at Dreamstime and people are curious how that is affecting RPD overall.

Lisa, I thought of analyzing that but for credit sales only.  Any fluctuation in the proportion of subs have a high influence in RPD, even before the commission changes.  But anyway, the commission cut was supposed to mean more money for advertisement and therefore more sales - that is, lower RPD, but higher total $ due to more dlds.  I haven't noticed this - I had more dlds and higher RPD in October compared to September, about the same sales and much lower RPD compared to August - but then my numbers are small for a good statistics.

DT would sell more if they switched from green and pink and changed the name of the business.

The product needs rebranding and relaunching.

RPD = rate per download ?

RPD = return per download, or in other words how much money you are getting for each download on average.

Hi All,

My bad on my numbers. I thought your RPD was based off of how many downloads you have had divided by how many images you have in the system over a certain period of time, like a month or a year. Is this not how RPD is calculated in Micro? It sounds like I am hearing that RPD only includes your downloaded images divided by themselves, excluding all your non sellers. Thanks for any help.

Best,
Jonathan

It sounds like what you are referring to is RPI - Return per Image

Your total sales (in $$) divided by your total images

total $$ / total images = RPI

or maybe you are talking about is DPI (downloads per image)

Total number of downloads / total number of images = DPI

but this stat isn't talked about very often and isn't what we are discussing here.

What this thread is discussing is RPD - Return per Download, to figure out how much we are getting per downloaded file, or in other words, how much we get for each sale.  This is calculated like this

Total $$ earned / total # of sales = RPD

  I hope this helps :)

The only time my RPD was under $1.13 this year was the month that a subs buyer purchased every photo in my port with the keyword Saskatchewan bringing down my average but boosting my actual earnings.  Excluding May - My RPD at lowest was $1.13, highest $1.67.  This month so far has been extremely good at DT.

Thanks Leaf,

Yea that helps a lot. My numbers were off as I was dividing my downloads by how many images I have in my collection. So I should divide my income over the time period discussed by the number of downloads I have had during that time period to get the right answer, is that correct ?

Cheers,
Jonathan
