The following announcement on dreamstime website:
May 13, 2009 (09:48)
Contributors: Upload limit is now increased from 100 to 150
-
isn't the limit dependant on your approval rating? 65% = 100 , 85% = 150 ,etc...
-
Where is the announcement? I can't find it.

Is this because of increase in resources or a decline in submissions? Does anyone know?
-
I would bet on the increase in resources, they hired more reviewers recently. However, I can't upload 150 photos daily, so I'm not affected. I couldn't upload even 100 :D
-
Their reviews seem to take much less time than usual.

Um...yeh...I didn't even think to look on the front page! ::) :P
-
My rejection rate has gone up a lot lately, so I am uploading less. They reject some of my photos because they already have too many but when I did a search on one, there are none that look like mine. I will concentrate on the other sites for a while.
-
With the increase of the upload limit my acceptance rate has dropped dramatically. Where I could bargain on one or two rejection for every 100 submissions, I sit with a 40% acceptance rate for this month, every rejection the same reason: "This is a very well covered subject in our data base or the subject of your image is too specific." A search reveals that the subject is not that well covered at all. I think the problem lies with new inexperienced reviewers, so I decided to stop uploading at DT for a while.

I have that problem with editorial on DT. Although my best seller there is an editorial (it was accepted early) DT very inconsistently rejected editorial later. Since it drags down your AR and hence position in the search engine, I don't upload editorial there any more. It's better to hold on to what you have.
The name of the game on DT isn't port size but image level.

This is a very annoying rejection reason, since every time I had it, I searched myself and it wasn't well covered at all. My guess is that reviewers don't check but just rely on their subjective gut feeling about coverage - which might be wrong. If the reviewer rejects an image for that reason, one could expect he does at least an objective search first.
-
I've found my acceptance level fairly steady lately (around 75% approval) and the majority of the rejections being the "well covered subject" excuse. Review times seem to be faster though with it being closer to 50 or so hours instead of the previously more common 96 hours.

Exactly my experience and opinion as well. I had to resubmit a few times quoting results of the search and images get accepted. Of course, the first rejection still counts in the acceptance rate.

In a few cases, I didn't resubmit but objected with support about the rejection, with documentation about the (poor) coverage. The rejection was then reversed. I don't think it counts for the AR then, but I'm not sure. Why would you resubmit? I would only do it if there were technical flaws that can easily be corrected, i.e. when the image had been changed.

I did it because I was instructed to do so by their support team. I also contacted them in the same way. I know that the support team way worked sometimes for some people, but it didn't work for me.

Ah they changed policy then. It's a bit unfair since it still count towards you AR and it was their fault.

I agree. This happened a couple of months ago. I'm not sure it's a matter of policy. It could depend on how much is an individual in the support team willing to do at the moment.

yes but when they talk about the limit they are talking about the max amount and then it goes down from there depending on your rating.
