Title: Urgent upload for editorial?
Post by: PZF on June 24, 2014, 04:31
Hi - does anybody know if this still exists? I've just sent up some pretty time-sensitive stuff now and review is saying to take 90 hours...by then it will be well out of date...
?

I haven't sent a request for a fast review in ages. Basically because they stopped paying out those $5 for newsworthy photos...

news stuff should be going to a news agency, Alamy news or even Demotix. Why try and earn pennies off news photos from a micro???????????????

Thanks all.

PK photos - I wasn't aware there was a separate News ftp system for Alamy and was fairly certain normal QC would not accept them quality-wise. Now, it is too late as they need to be sent within 48 hours and first you need a separate ok to access ftp - for which it seems you need to demonstrate you are a photographer with a 'serious' interest in news photography (whatever that means!)......

But ta anyway. Maybe another time I will get myself organized!

I dont think so, I've just got 10$ for my Roland Garros images. Weird is though that SS and IS does not accept those images without property release, but DT accepts. 123RF as well... I don't know what is the situation with Alamy, just started there and I see that it is not easy to tag images - just embedding the meta-data in photos is far from enough there. And if you want to send editorial image than you must add a tons of restrictions...

Or you indicate that releases are needed and you don't have any.
Alamy's T&C puts the onus onto the buyer provided you have correctly indicated that you don't have releases.

Mind you, some Alamy contributors seem to have miraculous powers to get releases - I've seen photos of huge public events, with dozens of performers and hundreds of onlookers marked 'have MR'.

Got quick review! :)
So it IS possible (I put the topic in the subject line of my email).

Sue, so indicating that there are no releases is good enough for editorials? That will help a bit :)
