Title: Worth uploading footage to Dreamstime?
Post by: Pacesetter on May 30, 2020, 03:20
Thinking of other platforms to upload footage given the SS saga. My vids are already on Adobe Stock and Pond 5.

So is it worth uploading vids to Dreamstime?

Thanks

I started Dreamstime back in October 2019. My portfolio consistss of around 380 images and 380 videos. In total, to date, I have made $18.

Of course, I have Python scripts that manage the uploads to all the stock footage agencies at once, including creating the agency-specific keyword csv files, so it takes me almost no effort to continue uploading to Dreamstime at this point. So, personally, I have no real reason to stop despite how bad the earnings are. But if you don't automate it, I would say no.

In my experience you get $20 for 4K downloads an $6-10 for HD, $3-4 for lower size.
These are quite poor amounts, made me reconsider if i should upload.

This is before the proposed 10% raise, but still, low prices

Although I appreciate DT's royalty increase in the wake of the bomb Shutterstock dropped, I think DT is a terrible agency for video.
Video sales are almost non-existent and the average commission for HD and 4K is relatively low. Only after 10 downloads would you climb to a respectable commission, but very few videos will ever reach 10 sales on DT.

Been with DT since the beginning. 7000 Images. Used to be a consistent seller. since 6 Months ago......One of the worse. You asked.
After being in stock since Late 1970's I believe It's not about having a gazillion Images anywhere. Thats a fallacy. It's about "How useful".

Good Luck. I find them a waste Of time Now. Sorry. Personal opinion.

I'd like to add my weird experience, I submitted an animation I did to DT, it accepted BUT NEVER EVER showed up on my profile; I've sent e-mails about it many times but they weren't able to solve my problem. There was VIDEO title appeared on my profile front page but no video showed up under the title, later I noticed the title disappeared too.  ;D
