Hello,
I'm new with footage and the only way for me to make a 4k video is via timelapse.
Most of the things I'm going to shoot are stars of the night sky.
Can you give me an advice how to do it best? I really want the best quality and the computing power is not an issue.
Can it be done with RAW files and if it can with which programs should I work so I can edit them simultaneously? I have done timelapses with Premiere but only with jpegs files.
Any advice about 4k is appreciated!

That is spectacular. I tried my luck at star shooting just in June with this image. Now I am going to pursue time-lapse. I am just a few hours from Joshua Tree National Park where a lot of star photography is done. One challenge I have is shooting intervals with RAW. If I want to do 2 second intervals I often choke up my camera so I would need more like 3 or 4 second intervals for the file to write. Looking at a whole new set of very fast cards in addition to a very fast wide prime. I plan on taking a 3-day course in Washington state with this guy:

I want to learn as much about star photography as I can before I get into time-lapse. I already have the Kessler pan-tilt unit but no rails yet. My pan tilt was very expensive and while I got it for video it also has time-lapse capabilities. It's nice and smooth and I have used it with video a lot, just never time lapse. These were my first attempt at still star imagery that got me wanting to pursue further.

Love the trails shot! Raw sequences and HDR really need a class 10 card. Nothing like a stuttering buffer to mess up a whole sequence. It just ends up looking choppy. I still shoot with my D800 which is probably the worst piece of gear to use for night TL's...the noise is absolutely unacceptable unless LE Noise reduction is set to on. Of course that doubles effective exposure times.
You probably know this already but one thing to look out for in any fast wide prime is how it handles Coma Aberration. This article link below explains it pretty well and might even save you a few bucks if you're looking for a dedicated low light ultra wide lens! I picked up the Samyang 14 2.8 and 24 1.4 and for the price they really are as good as it gets for this stuff. At least for me. My Nikkor primes were beyond useless.

Since you already have motion control equipment this "plug" is really for Cylonphoto...I looked long and hard for an out of the box 3 axis solution that could do very long dolly/slides but there was nothing out there until recently. Not long ago though I picked up an Emotimo Cart and am very happy with it. Unlike a rail or slider setup this rig works on three wheels so theoretically it's range is virtually limitless as long as you have a very flat surface to roll on. At the moment I'm using mine on 2'X8' sheets of 3/4" MDF ganged together on plastic sawhorses for runs up to 64'. The setup takes a while to level properly but the plus to this is that it is highly expandable and really only limited to the T3B's battery. The downside is you still need a rail or slider rig for bigger inclines or vertical shots. I also use this rig for video with some success, but it does require some Mercali stabilization in AE for macro slides with my setup. The pan and tilt are very smooth but it needs a fraction of a second to "settle" after a horizontal which is not an issue for timelapse but can be evident in video with longer lenses or very tight shots.

There's plenty of really good timelapsers out there but this guy earns my respect with his generous sharing of expertise. Not too many pros at his level are willing to do that. Maybe you guys will run into each other some night!
