Has anyone tried the free demo of Cushy Stock yet?
http://cushystock.com

If you haven't already heard about it, Cushy Stock is a new application designed specifically for photographers and illustrators to speed up workflow and make submitting images to these agencies a breeze.  It allows you to upload to any site that has FTP upload, as well as the others that are currently supported.

This is a really easy program to learn, and it saves a lot of time.  Once you have your latest batches done, set it and forget it.  Cushy will upload your daily batches while you get on with your life.  No dragging files to multiple FTP site windows, and waiting for one to be done to start the next.

Let me know what you guys think - so far I'm very impressed with it!  Cushy Stock seems to be very active with program improvements and updates as well.

It looks fine to me. I also looked at it, but they don't have a Mac version.  They have more sites then Prostockmaster to upload to, and
I think you can add Model releases to your images in the program.

Moreover, you can add your own stock agencies for uploading and accounting.

I tried ProStockMaster - I ended up uninstalling it the same day, I just wasn't impressed.  Cushy blows it away.

darn, only 30 keywords? I like to use the max 50 on sites that allow 'em.
Oh well back to the drawing board....

I am currently trying the free trial version.

It seems to be very well thought out and a pretty powerful piece of software. It is already starting to improve my workflow in less than 2 hours of playing around with it. I hope to give it a more through examination this next weekend.

I have a feeling that I am going to buy the full version. I'll let you know if I do.

What it does, it does pretty well.  But *, it's buggy.

If you attempt to upload and your upload settings aren't right, it won't let you try again after you fix the settings.  You have to exit the program and start it again.

If you drag files too quickly from the middle file area into the category area, you can't deposit them.  You have to drag them slowly.

When you type in the description area and hit the space bar, the image in the studio advances to the next, if you hit backspace it goes back to the previous image.

And 7 others that are pretty bad.

And nobody has posted anything in their bug forums since March and the author hasn't responded to anything in a couple of months...

Too bad, it has potential.

I am not sure about bug forum, I believe that it is not used any more. But if you submit all you found at http://www.tracker.cushystock.com/ - author is pretty good in fixing, you can expect a better version pretty soon. I'd even encourage you to do it - I also believe it has a good potential, but without feedback it will be lost.

What is the limitation of the trial version?

The limitation only allows you to upload one image in the trial version. You then need to exit the software and open it up again in order to be able to upload another image if you have not registered the software.

You can upload eps files and any vector graphics, converted jpeg preview and zip archives. You can convert eps files and make zip in the program.

FYI. Cushy Stock 1.8.5 supports localization (Russian and Dutch). Also you can add any translation and get a free key  ;).

Good to hear there is a new version :) Though i'm not particulary interested in russian neither dutch (i'm wondering a little bit about that choice isn't spanish, french and german more important?)
I would be interested if there are also some bugs ironed out.

well Cushystock has a few and some strange behaviors  ;) but i can see already much improvements with filtering so big congrats on that and thank you!
Yes i know that russian is supported i just wondered about that dutch goes second but i guess this is just because someone translated it pretty early in dutch, i'm fine with english.
Please keep concentrating on stability and performance that would make really happy i'm pretty fine with the features.

Does it really only support 30 keywords?  If yes, what does it do with the remaining 20 in the metadata of your image?  Just cut off the last 20?  I always put the most important ones in front, so cutting off the last 20 would not be a disaster.
But if the program sorts them alphabetically first ...

Is this Program still buggy?  or is that fixed now?

Still buggy  :-\

We are currently trying the "beta" pro version. Updates are pushed out to it periodically. It does certain things well, other things not so well, and somethings have placeholders in the interface but are yet to be implemented.

DO NOT buy a cushy stock license key

I bought a license key two months ago that didn't work. After contacting support I got one reply ("working on it") and after that the next message showed on the cushystock website:

Software support and development are temporary suspended. You can purchase the license at your own risk.

And then there was silence from the support team, so now I'm a few euros shorter and still stuck with the trial version.

Sorry to hear about that.
I had email contact with Alex Bakulin for a while last year about some bugs and problems I had.
He always answered my mails, so perhaps the suspending of support is indeed temporarily. I hope so.
In the last contacts we had he wrote that he was very busy with the job he had and that he had not much time to work on Cushystock in that period.
For I was very, very  busy last year too the contact has stopped.

My ideas about the software:
The principal idea is fantastic. But there were some bugs. Most of them I have learned to work around them.
I use still an older version of the software for I cannot import the database into the newer versions. Propably a bug or something wrong with the database itself.
For I am not a software developer I never understood why Alex changed the way the database had to be imported in a new version. In the older versions I could simple copy the backup into the new installationmap and it all worked like before.
(That's a thing I always see happen: newer versions of software always become more and more complicated. Why? The best (and bugfree) programs I use are simple and very small and mostly can even be used from an Usb-stick)
Cushystock is the software I used from the start, but the database is now growing and growing and the software becomes slow.
I wrote Alex about that problem and he was trying to solve that in newer versions.
But this old version works still very well to me for keywording, ftp-uploading and having an oversight of accepted and rejected images for each agency.

Everytime there's a topic at Mocrostockgroup with questions about this type of software I read it very carefully, but until now I did not find software that does all that Cushy does and better. And I am not familiar with spreadsheets too... :'(

rvvelde: I will send AlexBakulin an email about this topic with the link. He has an account here. Perhaps he will answer you and send you a new key or send your money back...

Colette,

Thanks for your actions. However there is still not a word (nor a valid key, or a dollar) from Alex. I can sympathise with busy people since I am also busy with a lot of stuff, but that does not allow one to just take your money and leave you with a faulty product and no response to multiple attempts to sort this out.

Again thanks for your help, please let me now of the cushy stock team surfaces again.

Greets, RvVelde
