I'm migrating from a PC and am looking for a good photo management program. I'm not big on the Adobe subscription model, so Lightroom is out.

On my PC, I'm still using date coded folders and manually sorting things, but thought I might try out something different on the Mac.

While I like the built in Photos app, that it hides the original photos in bizarrely organized subfolders makes it useless to process the initial Raw photos in Nikon's NX software or to use Xpiks to upload them to stock sites.

What are others using?

I like Graphic Converter 9 for browsing and organizing.  No import or export needed.

I always liked the simplistic Picasa, if you can get your hands on an installer.  I think Google discontinued it.

Affinity Photo. However I don't like their RAW converter. For everything else it is great.

For me the only choice on Mac was Photo Mechanic, because I shoot thousands of sports editorial pictures. There is nothing faster for photo selection. But after that, I am sending the selected ones to LR or PS. Sometimes I use only Exposure, which might be a great choice for you, as it also manages pictures quite well. Both can be bought, no subsc.

Photomechanic - http://www.camerabits.com/tour-v5/
Exposure X2 - https://www.alienskin.com/exposure/

or try Capture one Pro -  https://www.phaseone.com/en/Products/Software/Capture-One-Pro/Highlights.aspx

Everywhere you have try out period, so test it and stick with what is best for you :)
