easy, you get your assistant to sit on the end of the stick with the camera

Post by: ppdd on November 02, 2011, 10:47: As with many other cheaper crane/jib arrangements, you need to preset focus and think ahead a bit. It's done a LOT, and is a nice way to get a bit of movement into the frame. As long as you're not overly ambitious, it looks like it can be effective.

I agree, but I was taking objection the the outright dismissal as "useless". Quite useful for most videographers.

Post by: Mediarena on November 03, 2011, 14:37: Sometimes prefocusing is the solution. Sometimes you can stand by the camera when moving and use a standard follow focus with a whip. I will use it with my Lilliput monitor when needed. For those who can afford it, an Okii USB focus controller could do the trick for that need.

As with everything filming with DSLR there are problems and solutions.

The great thing with this one is the size and weight. I just received mine, but haven’t had the time to try it out for anything yet.
