Title: Which Codec should I use to reduce my file size for Fotolia?
Post by: Jogga0 on October 02, 2013, 01:35
Hi,
I have a 30 second file which is compressed to IS standards - QuickTime movie, photo JPEG at 95% quality. Problem is uploading to Fotolia as their FTP limit is 610MB and my footage is 710MB. I can render a new file in After Effects, any tips on the best format / Codec / settings to use to get the file size down at a quality acceptable for Fotolia? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Can you cut the time a bit?  I don't do clips longer than 20 seconds.  JPEG 90% seems OK for sites like FT.  I don't bother with FT though, Pond5, SS, Revo, Canstockphoto and Clip Canvas are enough for me.

QuickTime movie, H264 codec at 100% quality will reduce the file size significantly and H264 is accepted by Fotolia.

Thank you both for the replies. Decided to try the H.264 option, with a bit of experimentation managed to get it down to 584MB with H.264 at 90% quality.
