Title: Featurepics stalling?
Post by: null on February 24, 2008, 20:26
One month without any sale on FP now, quite unusual. I normally have 2,3,4 per month. It isn't the season because DT did very well for me the past month. The Alexa ratings (http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/featurepics.com) show a down trend too. Anybody else with the same impression?

Same here.  Feb will be about 25-30% of Jan.

In fact it's doing well for me, 2nd BME in my microstock account, losing only for one month in which I had an EL.  Only 6 sales, but profitable ones.  Four of them were bought by the same person (all on the same subject, healthy food).

Sybille also reported I think nine images in just one sale.

Adelaide

hit bme for fp yesterday, beating last month.  Not that is saying a lot but I put prices up from $2 to $5 half way through last month so it is nice to see.  Currently earnt $0.25 more than crestock for the month, and double canstock, quadruple LO.... :):)

I started to change prices on FP some weeks ago. I sold a picture  that I had change to 10 dollar but I just get 2 dollar for it
I tried to contact FP 3 times but they don't answer me.
Do anyone know whats going on at FP or is this common when you change the price on pictures that you got paid for the old price

It is possible that they purchased a "smaller" version??? (if you allow "re-sizing)?

No It was "the big size". I hope they answer soon.

ason,

The only explanation I can think of is that the buyer may have put the image is a shopping cart before you changed the price, and then FP keeps the price at that time.

I hope you get a reply soon (FP staff has always been very responsive) and let us know what happened.

Adelaide

Perhaps you checked the resize option so one of the smaller sizes got downloaded? (answered)

At the moment they are moving servers so reply might be slow. I asked for another payout 4 days ago and it still didn't happen. My previous payout was done in 24hrs.

Adelaide,

Are all of your sales coming from the site alone, or do you have your own website with FP images for sale on it?  I'm wondering if the only chance I have to sell a photo at FP is to set up my own site.  I don't see much in the way of advertising going on.

Dan,

In my photo website, I have a gallery but of my "macrostock" account.

In my personal website, sometimes in the Page of the Month I include some seasonal images with links to where they can be purchased, including FP.  But I believe I would have gotten referral earnings if this was the case, which I haven't lately.

Mind you, 2nd BME in FP does not mean a lot of money, although it's a nice $/dld average.

Adelaide

It might help. flemishdreams.com (http://flemishdreams.com/) is full with links to my FP sales pages. Just hover over the images in the central column of the frontpage and you will see license this image on FP then click.

If you would make such a site only to support your FP sales, it's overkill. But it helps, not only for FP sales since I"m getting BMEs everywhere lately. A site like that should funnel traffic to your sales. But it propably only accounts for 1% or so. Better go out and shoot more photos, but I just like site design as a way of relaxing. I killed my TV 5 years ago  ;D

I started the year very well at FP but now a real lull.

With FP you never know when a sale will pop up!

Or in my case, IF a sale will ever pop up.   :D

Strange.  I examined the monthly earnings breakdowns from the past few months, and those who contribute to FP seem to earn about 0.5% of 1.0% of their total income from FP.

I've been with FP for 3 months, have over that time earned approximately $600 in microstock income, but not a single sale at FP.  Given the percentages, you'd think I'd at least be at $3-$6 in earnings by now.  But nothing.  Watch, and wait, I guess.
