FeaturePics.com with a new subscription model (read press release)

What do you think about it? I only had so far occasional sales there, but with better prices. So will this new subscription model bring sales up?

I hope not. It can only drag away buyers from real players (Big6)  ::)

This is surprising, and it's odd that they haven't announced it to us first.  The only thing they announced months ago was the beta version of the "General Social Network Communities License"; in which all images would have a base price of US$5, and if the buyer wanted to purchase more licenses for friends these extra licenses would cost US$1 each.

Months ago too Elena asked about subscriptions, but it wasn't subscription in fact, but discounts like in this example above.  I am ok with discounts for mass buyers.  But anyway, Elena assured me that we would be able to opt out.

The notice doesn't make clear how the subs are going to work.  I'll write her.

Regards,
Adelaide

From Elena:

Hello Adelaide!
Where do you see subs?
It is "Payment against invoice"! We have been having this payment options long time back. It is just a press release to submit additional links for FP.

Again - it is not "SUBS". Payment against invoice - it is when clients pay to FP later. All sales for Authors are reflected immediately.

Best, Elena.

Because it wasn't a subscription model to start with. Oboy just called it that on the forum here and elsewhere. The press release didn't call it that either.

Customers have to pass a credit check or give references in advance. Then they pay on credit when they buy photos, on demand, without a subscriotion. Maybe that's the new subscription model, because there is No Subscription?  ;D

And so? Does it matter where the money comes from? If the pay is decent, it's progress. In any case, it doesn't appear to be subs anyway. Good for us. If the sales increase, it's even better. And I rather take 70% from FP than 20 or 30% from somewhere else   :)
