I have posted a blog about FeaturePics huge pricing overhaul.  I think this is a great sign of FeaturePics coming into their own.  Check out the full write up and breakdown on my blog.

Moon,

Midstock and Gold do not have to be exclusive (I read that twice already, I don't know where you guys are reading that from).  They can not be in microstock sites - that's the real requirement.  Gold images have to be RF, Midstock can be either RF or RM (at least I suppose RM are included in the Midstock collection, otherwise they are lost in space! :) )

I went back an re-read it...you are right, they must be not be on another microstocks sites.  So images sold at Alamy could also be sold with them from my understanding.

No one with more than one braincell would put pictures exclusive at FP. If we are talking about microstock only, yes FP requires exclusivity for its higher priced images. I joined FP because I could price all my maximum sizes 10$. Now, looking at my port, I see them for grabs at "0.25$ subscription" and I only get 50%, not 70%. That was not the deal I joined with.

As a consequence, FP ceased to exist and it became just another new microstock. They suddenly are competing with the established large sites, which is hopeless. I stopped uploading last March, mainly for the collapse of sales. It's on hold for now, but my finger was hovering around the cancel account trigger for a while. Now they are playing the price competition game too, they'd rather come up with some decent volume sales in the fall, so I'll just wait and see till end of 2009.

On one account, what I have there as RF is what I have as RF in macro or sites like SP where I set my price, plus the RM.  They were priced higher anyway.

On another account I have the microstock stuff I have everywhere.

I totally agree Lurker, I laugh when I see exclusive options on some sites.

Has anybody notices a difference in sales volume at FP since the big price change?

Mine (which weren't great there) have dropped to zero since the switch.

I haven't sold anything since then, but sales are erratic for me anyway.  Elena reported at the forum to have more activity and longer visits, if this may mean anything (I don't think she mentioned sales).

I don't know what kind of activity and traffic she was talking about, because in my case even views have despaired...who knows, maybe the buyers might be just surfing the site without viewing anything  :-\

I sold one but the price had been halved and I received 50% instead of the old 70%.  Sales will have to increase just to get my earnings back to what they were before, I have stopped uploading.

I can't upload higher priced images that are not on the micros because FP doesn't have the sales to justify it.  How are they going to change that?

I know Adelaide, I saw it on the FP forum, but it means very little without the views and sales to back it up.

I don't think you will see a change overnight.  First of buyers who did not like the other system have to find out that they have changed their format.  I would say we will know if this new format is paying off by the end of the year.

Looks promising, would consider putting my alamy images on their midstock range.

Cheers.
