Thank you Matt!
I have to say that this last year was absolutely good at Adobe, sales are growing up and the free section had without doubt no negative impact in my sales.
I can understand someone is angry for the new video subscription offer, I see it in the other thread, but... I think that's the market. And also I can't see any other agency so clear and respectful while talking to contributors.
Many thanks

MxR

How do I make it so that the ones that were free last year are not renewed? I do not want to add anything to free and I do not want the old photos that I put free a year ago to be free another year

The Photos which were for free in 2022 and Adobe wants to keep them for free in 2023: Do contributors get another time 5 USD per image?
Credit = USD?

Oh boy... it can bring me 245 euros if I nominate them all, and if they all get chosen. Tempting, but I am definitely not gonna give away my best sellers.
I am pretty sure some of the photos nominated wouldnt make 5 euros across all agencies in one year, maybe even in few years, but one probably needs to think about
it in such a way, that the photos involved are pretty much finished when it comes to sales after the free collection period expires, and that will probably apply also to sales on other agencies. If I can ask you people, how were your photos from free collection doing on other agencies?
I only had a handful last year because my port was (and kind of still is) small, so I dont have any relevant data.

If you do not want to participate again @MxR then no action is required on your part. You must opt-in to nominate your eligible photos. That includes anything that is currently available in the Free collection. Please note that next year (2023) this will be different.

In the 'fine print'...

Adobe will have the right to keep your content in the free collection for additional 12-month periods, subject to (1) giving you notice and an opportunity to opt out and (2) paying you an upfront payment for each additional 12-month period that your content stays in the free collection.

Yes, if you are paid in USD in your Adobe Stock contributor account, then you will be paid $5 USD for each photo approved for the Free collection this year. That includes photos that were approved last year and are currently in the Free collection.

Thanks for the question,

Mat Hayward

Yes, I've called this out specifically in most, if not all of my announcement posts. The updated addendum will allow for content in the Free collection at this time next year to be automatically nominated for the Free collection again. You will have the opportunity to opt out if you so choose. If the files are approved again for the Free collection, you would receive an additional payment.

Please be sure to let me know if you have any additional questions about this.

Thank you,

Mat Hayward

There seems no possibility to denominate a photo (or nominate it for that matter) that was in the free collection last year. How to solve that?

Edit: Never mind, I just see that it's now possible to nominate or denominate them as well. Good testing guys, before the release :) But still quick action to fix the bug.

I think you are right. If the photo doesn't sell anywhere else as well then it might be an interesting offer. If it sells good on other agencies it can become risky to let clients get it for free at Adobe.
So that's how I see it and act on it.

I did a quick check on what was eligible for nomination in my portfolio and I don't understand why items that have been downloaded within the last month and have lots of downloads are eligible.

Last time around, I thought it was only things that hadn't been downloaded in a certain amount of time that were eligible.

I'm not assuming; I checked several against my recent downloads list (by hand I would add; there are no ways to see downloads by date for a given image).

Have the rules for what assets can be included changed this time?

I'm just curious, I have 450 files eligible for free collection, but I'm pretty sure, I have more photos than that? How are eligible files selected?
Last year they selected photos that have had downloads but not more then three or something like that. Although this time around I have photos that did not have a download and was still selected.

Hello, can you tell me if there's a way to select the images we'd like to nominate versus nominating all eligible assets? It says we can adjust individual files until the 23rd and I just wanted to make sure before I click on it that there's a way to deselect some images. Thanks so much.

only an extension of last year's files (and only photos in my case) .. not one uploaded this year, for example?

Yes, seems strange. Some pretty good sellers are eligible.

impossible to say for sure, esp'ly with large portfolios - you're asking for proof of a negative.  how would you measure any influence when there are so many other factors involved? and when sales at other agencies are falling for other reasons & and sales of almost any particular image are random.

meanwhile, many of us have long maintained that sales at one agency don't affect those at other agencies & no one has offered evidence to the contrary

Thanks Matt, when I first saw the photos that were already free from the previous year I didn't see the select free tab

Thank you! If all mine are chosen (but I know they won't be based on last year's experience), I'd get a little over $7,000. My sales never suffered last year and I'm nominating all of them. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush...

This may have been asked already, but do the download numbers in the assets that have been free for the last year reflect all downloads or only payed downloads?

If you look at Adobe's FAQ they say that you can't see how many downloads an asset in the free section has, so I have to assume that any numbers you see are paid downloads.

This is still the same Jo Ann. If a file was a top seller in the past 12 months it would not be eligible for nomination. In my account, I have some files eligible with hundreds of downloads in the lifetime of the image, but only a couple in the past year. The files that are eligible for nomination were determined last week, so it's likely there will be a few odd exceptions in which an image went on a download spree the past week and is still available for nomination. Please know that in those rare cases, when the nomination process is complete and the final selections are being made, those images will not be accepted. It's not in any of our best interest to pull content from the paid collection if it is trending towards consistent sales.

If you have a file or files, Jo Ann that seem to not align with what I just wrote, please send me an email with the specific file numbers and I'll look up their sales history to check them out.

Thank you,

Mat Hayward

Sure thing, Xirae. You can do it one of two ways. If you think you'll be nominating most eligible files, I recommend you click to nominate them all and then go through your dashboard and deselect those you do not want to include.

If you think you will be nominating a minority of what is eligible, then the process will likely be quicker to go through and click to nominate the individual files.

Let me know if you have any additional questions about this.

Thanks,

Mat Hayward

Only paid downloads are reflected in your portal statistics @wds. Downloads from the Free collection are not counted in the portal.

Thanks for the question,

Mat Hayward
