Title: 49.9955 credits
Post by: sarah2 on October 29, 2012, 05:21
Couldn't resist sharing this!
I finally saw I had 50 credits at Fotolia, given that I no longer upload to them due to their truly feeble payment rates. But when I tried to convert the credits into money, I could not do so, so I contacted Support.
Their reply posted below!
I've not seen a decimal like that since I left school!!!!
What precision.....!

The figure of 50 credits you are seeing is rounded up. You currently have 49.9955 credits available. After your next sale you will be able to convert your credits.

how ridiculous some of these ms sites have become!
its a wonder that people still do business with many of them, given their shady business antics and not to mention insulting commission rates!

Good luck waiting for a sale of 0.0005 credits then! My guess is that these figures are generated by their internal currency/credit exchange rates.

It does seem ridiculous that they'll round the figure up for display purposes but not for payment. The communication you had with their employee would have cost them more in wages, especially as you are probably not alone.

I don't think so. I believe Fotolia uses their own 'credits' so on the contributor side you shouldn't be affected by which currency the buyer uses. I guess it must have something to do with tax withholding.
I do wish they would either send payouts once a month, or process them quicker. Takes always a while. Long enough for me that I'm sending another payout request as soon as the previous one gets processed. So I'm in a permanent 'payment pending' state ;)

Try again tomorrow. There might be a different exchange rate.

Another thing, the number is to be rounded up. They are not following the rules.

But again there we see, how they use any mean to prevent money going out.
Those 0.00005 adds a lot to the "annoy factor", even for me as a spectator.

Its the kind of thing I remember and it tells me their way of doing business.
