Title: Adobe Headquarters Stock Shoot with Sean Locke, Inti St. Claire and Terry White!
Post by: MatHayward on February 08, 2018, 12:03
Hi Everyone!

Last year Sean Locke, Inti St. Clair, Terry White and myself flew to San Jose and created a series of videos while shooting stock at the Adobe Headquarters. We had a great time, got some amazing content and the videos came out pretty great if I do say so myself!

If you want to see Sean, Inti and Terry in action take a look at the videos inside the blog post linked here: https://theblog.adobe.com/photographing-modern-workplaces/

Cheers!

Super cool!  Next time video contributors!

It's funny you should mention that...we are in the process of planning a video for videographers as I'm typing this :)

What other types of videos would y'all like to see? I've got a few ideas in the works and would love some more suggestions!

Please! Anything but corporate videos with cheese models and shiny modern interiors! Well, the real world is outside with real people...

Thanks for posting this Mat!

If you're going to profile videographers, I think it would be great to see a series about top contributors producing stock footage at different scales:

-Full stock production studio
-Solo stock shooter working full-time
-Part-time stock shooter, etc.

It would be fascinating to know the similarities between them that help them to succeed, as well as major differences. Their workflows, investments, sustainability, etc.

It seems like (anyone correct me if I'm way off) the majority of active members on microstockgroup fall into the solo producer / part-time stock shooter category, so it would be great to peak into the processes of those who might not post here as actively.

Other than that - I would be very interested in seeing videos about the people that actually buy stock footage. Case studies that could help contributors better understand the actual needs of buyers - how they find the footage their looking for, how we might be able to provide more in demand content to them, etc.

Lastly - I think everyone would like to see more data. Pulling back the curtain on how best to succeed on Adobe based off of actual numbers and statistics that aren't often provided by stock agencies. I'm sure a lot of this is confidential, but would be fascinating to know more about search algorithms and such.

Thanks again!

These are outstanding requests! I will do my best to get as much of this done as I possibly can!

@fritz I appreciate your feedback. It was the point I was trying to make at the beginning...take advantage of the opportunities unique to your world..if you manage a cool jazz bar that is dark and seedy in New Orleans then create content there and it will scream authenticity. I work at Adobe so what you saw is my real world...granted, the San Jose office buildings are a bit fancier than Seattle but regardless, that is a location that is unique to Adobe. When I first saw those buildings, my jaw dropped to the floor and I knew I wanted to do a shoot there.

FYI, I did do a series of videos in a home setting a while back. You can check them out here if interested:

Thanks again for , please keep the suggestions coming!

Sounds great! Really dig the videos you’ve already created as well.

90 minute premise worked well for these, but could be nice to let the contributors drive a bit more. Have them pick locations, talent, props. Talk about finance / permission. More documentary / case study style / fly on the wall.

Anyhow, don’t want to get too picky. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Mat, thanks for posting the blog. Great to see!

Did you shoot at the location? Is there a video showing you in action?

I snapped a few photos but not many, the videos I linked to in my recent post show my personal workflow during a shoot.

Mat was so busy being awesome for us, his shooting was sadly limited.

Haha, he did use my least favourite word 'awesome' rather a lot.  But then hit a matchwinner with 'conversating'! I've never heard that one before.

Nevertheless, they were really interesting videos: educational and inspiring so thanks for your efforts.

Great post! Watching that video made me want to setup a group shoot asap - especially if there is a need for diversity.

what a gorgeous location! very inspiring video.

I'll put my name on the list to be flown out next time...  ;D  or perhaps do this same thing in Au, NZ or Singapore, so you can hit the type of diversity that works in my region? I'm keen Matt.  maybe you do a #wildcard option

all 3 were amazing but i was super impressed with how Sean managed to make 7 people look like a crowd.
and so great you had models who actually knew how to work out. (shouldn't be that hard... but I've seen some hilarious stuff)

and finally, *! i want to work for Adobe, what an amazing workplace.

Pardon, off topic, Mr. Mat do Adobe/Fotolia have plan to accept Editorial Video/photo content?

Thanks a lot.

I think I might have sent it in once for repairs in the last 10 years. So, pretty good.

Haha, but I mean in terms of image quality. Sharpness etc. I heard the MKII is sharper in the edges. Its a big difference in $$ but people say to get the MKII. However, seeing you are very successful with it, the MKI is probably not a bad choice.

Oh, nothing I've ever noticed, but I tend to shoot open, and so the sharp point is normally away from any edges.

Awesome, maybe I'll hire a couple of models and join Adobestock with some new images..... I need some new content for my account at SS anyway, just haven't had the time with working 60 hour weeks in the lab at my full time job.
