Hello MSG I thought some of you guys might be interested to know that Adobe is currently working on a new version of Contributor portal on Adobe Stock to work seamlessly on CreativeCloud. And I've got some bad news too Adobe have already disabled the Contributors area for new users at Fotolia.com  ICYMI Adobe is planning to marge all Fotolia's userbase to Adobe Stock and kill off Fotolia permanently within 2017.

Fotolia will serve as a API site for Adobe Stock.

I would like to see them get rid of Fotolia, hopefully also getting rid of whatever they did to almost completely kill my sales years ago.

FT has better stat reporting, otherwise I've already dropped anything on that site. Uploading is much better on Adobe site. My sales are up, maybe the competition is up for your kind of files? Since Adobe bought FT I keep seeing better sales and batter site. Mat is helpful and answered this question about new users no more on FT, last year.

Even if this is old news, the fact is that Fotolia's business model relies a lot on a stronger euro.
While the majority of FT portal sales are made in euro, they underpay the majority of their contributors, by artificially declaring 1US$ = 1 Euro.

Fotolia is a currency manipulator.

In order to grow their microstock business, Adobe has the ambition to expand aggressively on the US market. This is why the FT credit based business is not suiting them anymore. If the majority of Adobe sales are coming from US, it doesn't make sense to overpay, in euros, European contributors.

Something had to be done!

And this is why they decided to create the new Adobe portal. This is why the new portal is not using the credit system anymore.

Think about it: why re-inventing the wheel and spending money, time and efforts on a new portal, when they have a nicely working system, which, probably, could have been easily be re-branded and enhanced with few additional Adobe portal features (e.g. editing keywords after acceptance)

Anyway, for the reasons mentioned above, I will be very happy to see a complete migration of all FT customers to the new Adobe portal, followed by shutting down the FT portal, as soon as possible.

I hope just the opposite. I wish Adobe with keep Fotolia up and running. I am a Saphire contributor and getting much higher royalty than on Adobe where the royalty is flat for everyone. I am also getting regular high credit sales on Fotolia, whereas on Adobe Stock the prices are much lower.

SO, ADOBE, PLEASE KEEP FOTOLIA ALIVE!

Yeah, if it was some cunning ploy to make more money, then the lower prices at Adobe aren't going to help. And I'm seeing Adobe prices in Pounds (39.99 for HD), so I'm assuming there's still some kind of currency action going on.

I'm curious what HD is in Dollars and Euros.

I can understand that, if you are paid in euros and you still benefit from the fake exchange rate imposed by Fotolia on us. Or if you are one of the very rare high ranked Fotolia contributors (therefore not representative), and assumed as a collateral loss by Fotolia, in the grand scheme of things.

So you can only pray to your God, or better to ECB to put an end to their quantitative easing policy, to allow the Euro to stay stronger than the Dollar.

Because, I can bet with you that, if the situation will reverse, you will definitely kiss goodbye your privileges! No matter how much you will beg them to keep it alive, Fotolia will kill Fotolia, because their currency manipulation strategy will bite them back.

Adobe has been overcharging European customers for their programs for many years. The prices for CC are much higher in Europe, and there is no way around it.
If they now pay European contributors (who usually happen to be their customers as well) a little more...  well, two wrongs don't make it right, but as far as I am concerned, let it be...

Remember:
Extended Licence at Fotolia 100 credits
Extended Licence at Adobe stock 80 credits
Dont have much extended licence, but when i get one royalties are better from fotolia than adobe

Please dont kill fotolia!

Most of my sales come from Asia and Europe.
And from my point of view it doesn't make sense to underpay, in dollars, European contributors

FWIW, I'd like to see Fotolia stay open too, but history is clear all these sites look out for their own bottom line and not ours.  If recent history is true, all the begging or protesting in the world won't make any difference.   Especially in this case when the pool of negatively affected contributors  - European and/or extremely high ranked - is so small.

Dont know if you know? but a lot of high ranked contributors quit Fotolia with their dollar sales thing and according to their own forum things are not all that rosy. Many Emeralds complaining actually.

Was this directed at me?  If so, it doesn't contradict anything I said.  Supports it, actually.

Exactly! You are confirming my statements. You are one of those enjoying being paid hundreds of dollars more, annually, than an equivalent dollar based contributor.

Why would you want what is fair, when you are part of the privileged few?  :o

Because not being an hypocrite I am very happy that I can get more :D

But from another side the same computer costing $1000 in the USA costs 1000 in Europe
What is fair is relative. What is fair for you is not fair for me and vice versa.
You can't always have your cake and eat it too.

Hello guys.
I do not know if I should do another topic to ask this, but I decided to ask this one already done.
Before Adobe has bought Fotolia, 80% of my sales came from Europe.
It's been over a year now that's changed. 80% of my sales come from the US.
The same with you?
Would Adobe / Fotolia be very strong in America and lost space in Europe? Or is it just a coincidence?
Thanks a lot.
